A fine companion to end a meal or relax in front of the hearth with, this robust ale will cellar well for years. Brewed with ten varieties of malted barley this stout is extremely smooth, complex and rich in body. We recommend serving at cellar temperature. Sit back and enjoy its richness and complexity, youre about to drink the ultimate winter warmer.

Dark beige head--perhaps the darkest one Ive ever seen. Very thick. Leaves a coating of lace like a blanket on the glass. The liquor is nearly black. Lots of chalky cocoa to the nose. Dry, coffee flavors up front. Although it is potent at 10.5% abv, the alcohol warmth is missing--very deceptive. Theres a touch of cream to this beer. The body is extremely rich, like light cream. The carbonation is low so it is exaggerated. Its too dry to be a dessert beer; its too rich to be a regular brew. But it is a special beer, worth seeking out.

Pours black from the bottle and leaves a light brown, creamy head. Lots of sticky lacing. The aroma is fudge, licorice, vanilla, roasted nuts, hints of ink. Taste is rich, sweet, tangy, trending bitter with roasted notes going into the finish. Overall a rich mix of fudge, coffee, plum and berry. Body is heavy with mild carbonation. A very good brew.

Chocolate owns the aroma, extremely strong, great! Taste is smooth, dry and full of coffee but lacking body. Dark chocolate in the finish

Poured into a pint ale glass at 60 degrees. Jet black with a 1/2 chocolate colored head that dissipated quickly. Aroma dark fruits, bubble gum that turns to chocolate. Taste smoke, oily coffee, dark chocolate. Finishes bitter with lasting notes of oily coffee and bitter chocolate. A complex imperial stout that might improve with age.

12 oz bottle. Pours black with full dark tan head. Aromas of dark milk chocolate, vanilla. And creamy toasted malts. Flavors of light smoked nuts and chocolate, creamy coffee, dark vanilla and soy sauce, and rich toasted malts. An incredible stout got the price! Extra marks...

Pours dark brown/black with minimal lacing. Aroma is fresh brewed coffee. Taste mimics aroma with a slightly smokey dark fruit on the end.

Pitch black with a thick, deeply brown head. Aroma of deeply roasted coffee, almond, proscuitto, caramel, dark chocolate, alcohol, tar, the ocean. Taste is very sweet at first which transcends to become salty, sour and extremely bitter. Also includes flavours of soil, arson (burned furniture/house), expensive coffee, used coffee grounds, vanilla, licorice, banana. Well hidden alcohol but has a nice bite. Obviously quite full but not extremely so. Not sure what I think about the taste, am not extremely accustomed to the style i have to admit, still a fairly sensational experience. Perfect on an empty stomach.

Profoundly bitter Imperial Stout, bruising and clingy, a bit much to take fresh. Starts with a heavy, syrupy rush of dark chocolate and alcohol, then gains a raisin-licorice note while the IBUs amp up their attack. Finishes with a sizeable dose of boozy heat, semisweet and viscous with a dry, resinous hop fade. The bitterness is manageable; the heat, not so much. Needs at least a few months on the shelf to grind down its jagged edges. Only rates decent at three(ish) months.

Pours pitch black with a brown frothy head. Aroma is deep coffee and pure chocolate, some dark fruits, brown sugar and licorice. Flavour is dark chocolate, molasses, demerara sugar, fudge, brownies, slight licorice and a slight acidity in the end. Full body with a nice creamy mouthfeel. Wow!

Bottle from SB. Black with small beige head. Aroma of roasted malt, chocoalte, coffe, dufge, herbs. Sweet and bitter taste. Has a mediumfull body with creamy and semi-oily texture. More carbonation than i expected. Overall a nice ceamy and half-milky imperial stout with great bitterness and good flavours.
