UPDATED: SEP 6, 2012 Huge beer. Pours almost black with a medium head. It pours with a thicknessin to the glass. The nose is big with alcohol and a sweetness that is hard to describe. There is also some vanilla. The taste is great. Again the beer has a uniqueness that probably comes from the barrel aging. Almost a cough drop taste. Chocolate and some licorice also are blended in. Long finish, I’m glad i have 3 bottles left.
Re-tasted on 9/5/12 - The beer has changed since my last taste. This one almost had a Mounds candy bar taste, like it was melted into the glass. I really enjoyed it.
Draft at Fraunces Tavern in NYC with the wife. Soft oaky bourbon aromas. Lots of dark fruit, butterscotch, toasty malts, vanilla, oak. Super mellow finish. Outstanding.

UPDATED: NOV 5, 2017 Dark. So dark once I had my thoughts on the appearance I gave in and consumed in blackout with some hifi tunes. Underworld: second toughest in the infants (if you must know).
Sweet bourbon nose with plenty of dark and caramel malt. Stone fruits with an alluring boozy invitation. Sticky, roasty toasty malts. Prune, bourbon, chocolate. Nice warmth.

Bottle @ Tapas bar Inez. Pours black, no head. Smooth, wood, roasted, vanilla, sweet aroma. Smooth, vanilla, wood, dark chocolate, roasted malts in the flavor. Very well balanced. Mouthfeel a bit too fizzy.

(Sample on tap @ CBC 2016 Blue Session, Copenhagen) Pours nearly black with a dark tan head. Aroma is rich but not overkill on the barrel, with notes of vanilla, wood, whiskey and coffee but well balanced by a pretty heavy roast malt body that has a nice tar component that gives some serious heft to the base beer. Flavour is similarly really well balanced, roasty, a lot of coffee, toasted and roasted grain, a bit of tar, some bourbon, slightly fudgy and yet very dry for style, light vanilla, a hint of coconut, with a dry grainy toasted finish. Medium full viscous body with soft carbonation and no alcohol. A lesson in balance as far as barrel-aged imperial stouts go, bringing high flavour concentration without letting it turn into a bourbon parade. Palate: close to full body,low carbonation,
Overall: Good one, aroma drags down the rating a bit, its quite overhyped imo.
