COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The once strongest beer in the world is back ! Brewed only once a year on December 6. Samichlaus is aged for 10 months before bottling. This beer is perhaps the rarest in the world. Samichlaus may be aged for many years to come. Older vintages become more complex with a creamy warming finish. Serve with hardy robust dishes and desserts, particulary with chocolates, or as an after dinner drink by itself. Brewed under the exclusive licence of Feldschlösschen-Hürlimann-Holding, Switzerland.

From notes: tried two separate bottlings, and will compare/contrast here. Started with a 2007 bottling, sold in 2008. Poured ruby red with a small, thin off-white head. Aromas of dark candied fruit and caramel. Full-bodied, with a slight thickness to it. Still, not too heavy and a nice, lingering finish. Slight dryness and astringency to the finish. Flavors of dark cherry, candied fruit, mild caramel and maybe cola. Next, was a "fresh" 2010 bottling, sold for the 2011 holiday season. Appearance was identical. Aroma similar, but with more alcohol in the nose. Palate is significantly thicker and syrupy. All of the flavors are there, but are muted by a fairly strong note of alcohol. All-in-all, excellent, but worth aging if you have the patience. Wondering how much longer I should keep that 1995 bottle in my refrigerator...

---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Aroma a ciruelas pasas, caramelo, frutos rojos.

UPDATED: NOV 2, 2017 Nice clear amber pour with a small fast dissapating white head. Nose is sweet roasted malts, burnt/caramalized sugar and dried fruits, or tutti futti as you may. Can I have the sugar, sugar? Holy crappola!! This is one sweet beer. Not too crazy about sweet beers normally, but yummy. It's like drinakble pancake syrup. Dark roasted malts, honey, caramel, figgy pudding. If anyone can find me a beer with a fuller body than this one, i'll tell you that ain't beer, that's a liqour. low to medium carbo. Hahaha, love to be surprised like this. Eventhough it's sticky sweet, i really loved it. Bet it is a great dessert beer!!!!!

Bottle, dated 2015. Quite sweet up front, thick and syrupy, with brown sugar, honey and slight dark fruit notes, but finishes surprisingly light and balanced. Curious to see how this does with a couple more years in the cellar.

Sweetish caramelly sticky beginning. Very deep and intense. Caramel, brown sugar, not too sticky. Nice sweetish but sessionable dark aftertaste with molasses and a moderate bitterness.

Piana szczątkowa znika po chwili. Kolor bursztyn klarowny.

Very strong, still despite its ABV relatively smooth in gtaste, but of course alcoholic notes remain. Otherwise lovely malty, sweetish and after all a complex belnd of flavors make this a special brew, indeed.
