COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Here in Colorado we are blessed with abundant natural beauty.
Smokejumpers are those fearless wildland firefighters who specialize in parachuting into the wilderness so that we can continue to enjoy it. Smokejumper Imperial Porter is a tribute to them - a twenty-one degree plato porter made with barley malt hand- smoked by our brewers. Roasty brown in color, the long lingering smokiness wraps around flavors of molasses, toasted malt and an earthy hoppiness. Heres to smoke in your glass, not in the woods. Smokejumper is the official beer of The National Smokejumper Association.

UPDATED: APR 11, 2012 Poured from 22oz bottle - Damn! Wow! Left Hand delivers a rare punch to the senses with this one! Smoky as a jazz bar and slutty as well. Am I getting red pepper and paprika on the end there? How did they do that? Folks, just a sensational offering here.

Tap at Sedona. Pours black. Definite smoke in the nose, along with coffee. Flavor is smoke, ash, coffee, light chocolate. Bitter. For some reason I don't care for the initial taste up front, but thoroughly enjoy the back end. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

0.65l bottle from 2012 shared with The Tasting Crew. This one pours a really deep and dark brown colored body, on the border of being black actually and it has a medium sized quite rapidly fading brownish head. Love the aroma. Just so much bacon! Smoked bacon and beef with hints of pine, roasted malts and a little minty herbal hint. Nice! This is how I like my smoked porters. Not over the top smoky, not too sweet or too beefy. Really round and balanced this one! Gliding oily in the mouth and its soft and gentle on the carbonation. Theres a good amount of chocolate also in this one. Delish! 26.11.2014

Pours a deep brown to black with a light brown head. Aromas of malt and some caramel. Taste the smoke first. Then comes the malt and molasses. Nice smoked porter. Very complex flavor. Almost no hop taste. Light palate with lots of lacing in the glass. No alcohol burn.

Bottle - The smoke is forward which mixes well with the base porter. Not my favorite, but solid all the same.

Bottle from Appalachian Vintner. Pours black with a thin khaki head. Leaves some lacing in the glass. Nice smoke notes on the nose. Nice blend of smoky and roasted malt. Finished clean. Its a pretty nice beer.

Bottle from WOB. Dark brown with small amounts of head and lace. Vanilla, oak, roast, smoke and malt in the nose. Drink. Its sweet. Smoky and BBQish, toast and woods, vanilla malt balls and earthy hop. Interesting stuff but too dang sweet. It is super smooth. Could give it another shot. I cant drink overly sweet dark beers.

From the 650 ml bottle Vintage 2016 with a best by date of 10/14/21. Good for five years! Deep dark brown pour under a long lasting, foamy light brown head. Smoky malts and sweetness are notable in the aroma. A little charcoal and maybe some raisins. The body is medium to full with a slight astringency. What a wonderful taste with those smoked malts tickling my tongue and a bold somewhat dry finish. The bitterness does not linger but it is warming.

Treated as an imperial smoked porter, this was poured into a snifter. The appearance was a dark brown close to black color with a thin white to off white foamy head that dissipated at a good pace. Mild lacing builds around the rims nicely and adequately. The aroma takes on the normal qualities of a smoked porter: some meatiness (maybe ham/bacon) and then theres some salt, did they do this intentional? Me, I dont mind, but have to admit, thats a bit different. The flavor yields to the sweet to smoky meatiness flowing over a sly earthy/bitter hoppiness. Saltiness comes back slyly. Decent flowing meaty sweet sly stickiness flowing over my tongue, sly subtleties. Overall, a very nice imperial smoked porter that I would love to have again, but not comparable to De Molens Bloed, Zweet & Tranen or Alaskans Smoked Porter. Dont get me wrong, its good, but just not up there.
