The Pannepot Reserva was an idea from my brew colleague Carlo who wanted to age Pannepot in genuine French oak barrels (barrique 225 liters). We have brewed 90HL at the end of 2005 which has been aging on oak ever since (14 months). 30 Hl was bottled Tuesday 8th May 2007. 60Hl has been transferred now to second hand calvados oak vessels and will be bottled again early autumn 2007, we will name that batch Pannepot Grand Reserva. As quality and results rule at Struise, the Reserva was already brewed again and aging on oak.

stravale (3088) - Co. Westmeath, - DEC 22, 2012
Bottle from the Bottle Shop, Canterbury 221212
Dark rich caramel brown, frothy off white head that dissipates to thin rime around glass, some lacing
Aroma - Very malty sweet, raisins, figs, dark fruits, some dark honey, sweet caramel malts, touch of toffee, soft spices, some of that Belgian yeast, almost no booze, aromatic, reminds one of Rochefort 10, this is very complex
Taste as above with dark candy sugars, very complex, very malty, dark fruits, spices, touch of chocolate, soft sherry, complex yeast esters, only slight hint of booze, getting a touch of wood, very rich flavour
Palate - Medium carb, full body, sweet palate, very smooth. Finish as main flavour, smooth, very fruity and malty with some warming booze in the finish
Overall - I would love to try normal Pannepot after this. This beer is just phenomenal - it ticks all the boxes. I have to re-rate Rochefort 10 soon and see how it compares.

Tallahassee, Fl - ABC Fine Wine & Spirits - Betton - 11.2 oz bottle. Rich, deep dark amber-brown pour, quickly fading bone-colored head. Aroma of brown sugar, dates and molasses. Rich flavor, some raisin sweetness, some canned baked brown bread, a touch of brown sugar. Very belly warming. Nice sticky mouthfeel.

2009 vintage bottle shared by alexsdad06 pour dark copper with moderate ecru head and lots of particulate. Nose caramel apple, toffee, raisin, fig, light soy. Taste still super sweet for 8 year old bottle. Is there such a thing as candied fig? Red fruit, raisin, fig, plum. Thick mouth feel.

Maersk (323) - MOLDOVA - SEP 1, 2017
2012 bottle. Muddy brown, quick to almost no head. Smells sweet dark fruit, cake, a bit of yeast. More fruits in the taste, some caramel, berry tartness. Medium to full body. Good, but not exceptional.

jacobarts (228) - Aarhus, DENMARK - AUG 24, 2017
Bottle bought back in Utrecht. 2012 edition. Pours very dark brown, almost black with frothy beige head. Aroma: Raisen, wet wood, caramel, sugar, roasted malts, fig. Quiet sweet taste: wood, plumme, cherry, light vanilla. Very Very good beer. The only thing that brings this down in my opinion is the aftertaste - I just don’t like it. Otherwise I really enjoyed this one :)

Reserva 2012. The aroma is malt, caramel, dates, raisin. Pours very dark brown with fully diminishing beige head and excellent lacing. The taste is sweet. The body is medium/full, the texture creamy, the carbonation lively and the finish lively. Not as great as I was expecting but a damn good Belgium Strong Ale!!

anstei (2510) - Zurich, SWITZERLAND - JUL 15, 2017
Bottle, vintage 2010, courtesy of SinH4, many thanks! Pours dark brown with a medium but short lived foam. Aroma is dark dried fruit, ripe fruit, oak, fig, raisin, candy, soft booze. Body is heavy, quite sweet, but not overwhelming. Lively carbonation carrying the dried fruit and oak flavours over to a warming and boozy palate. Intense, but well balanced and extremely drinkable. Smooth and nice. Very good, worth all the praise!

pjotrapostou (303) - POLAND - JUL 15, 2017
[2012] W aromacie karmel, zioła, wanilia, bardzo bogaty. Smak to głównie słodkie owoce, banan, zioła, ściągający, wytrawny i dość długi posmak. Wysycenie duże, to trochę przeszkadza. Dobrze ułożone i bogate, beczka mu służy.
