The Pannepot Reserva was an idea from my brew colleague Carlo who wanted to age Pannepot in genuine French oak barrels (barrique 225 liters). We have brewed 90HL at the end of 2005 which has been aging on oak ever since (14 months). 30 Hl was bottled Tuesday 8th May 2007. 60Hl has been transferred now to second hand calvados oak vessels and will be bottled again early autumn 2007, we will name that batch Pannepot Grand Reserva. As quality and results rule at Struise, the Reserva was already brewed again and aging on oak.

2009 bottle very dark brown with a large tanned head. aroma is sweet, chocolate, raisin, dark brown sugar, some wine notes. taste is smooth and sweet with coffee and licorice. finish is complex, spicy, with restrained (coffee) bitterness. cherries, chocolate and oak are abundant. I prefer the standard pannepot, but this is still fantastic.

Tap. Very deep brown color. Exactly 1 bubble tries to imitate head. Bloody hell give me another bubble and its gonna be as flat as teenager. Fruity, prunes, sweetish, sour, some alcohol in aroma. Belgian yeast, raisins, plums, fruity, roast in taste. Papery, yeasty, prunes and sweet in taste. Almost no carbonation. Feels like fermented old plum jam. And way too sweet for me. Solid brew.

Schuim is snel verdwenen.

Fruitige neus. Smaak is bijzonder. Zoet zurige afdronk.

Very dark with a deep brown head. Dark ripe fruit, cherry, chocolate, berries, dark malt, light tartness, faint tobacco. Full bodied. Amazing complexity. A very enjoyable experience. 2012 bottle drank 31DEC2016.

12 vintage - Pours dark brown with brown hue and tan head. Nose is caramel, brown sugar, dried fruits. Taste is dates, figs, cola, chocolate. This is an example of why I dont drink Belgian strong ales made in America.

33cl bottle bought at De Roemer, Groningen. Appearance: dark brown with fairly big beige head. Head isnt very persistent. Aroma: Oak, vanilla, butterscotch, caramel, raisins, port, cocos. Taste: high sweetness and medium bitterness. Notes of vanilla, oak, chocolate, cocos, dried red fruits, brown sugar. Alcohol is pretty well hidden. Palate: full bodied, oily texture and fizzy carbonation. Fantastic!
