Le Freak is a modern ale created by converging two beer styles, Belgian Trippel and American Imperial IPA. The use of two yeast strains further marries the styles and American hops give the beer its modern flare.

I think I found a way to enjoy a belgian trippel, combine it with an imperial IPA. For me, the combination works real well. A real nice color, and a wonderful aroma. I loved this one.

Retired? Bottle off the store shelf. Hazy appearance. Some sediment. Tiny bubbles. Some citrus and spicy notes in the aroma. Very dry, hoppy flavor. Spicy notes, fruit, grass. Malt backbone but subdued. Yeast character comes through as fruity esters. Alcohol is hidden but a slight warmth.

UPDATED: DEC 1, 2017 (Bottle) Hazy, rich orange body with a soft, medium off-white head. Aroma is floral and fruity; citrus, tropical fruit, flowers, fall grass. Full bodied; oily and chewy. Flavor has a lot of hops; resin and citrus (orange); wood, cheese, a little funky; complex and a lot of flavors going on.

Tasted at the 2017 Great American Beer Festival in Denver, Colorado. Good flavors, close to style, as expected without too many surprises.

UPDATED: MAY 26, 2017 Bottle purchased at Randall?s. Hoppy piney aroma, pours opaque amber with little yeah retention, moderate carbonation and relatively full mouthfeel. Taste is bitter and funky yeast initially, hints of sage,l and almost savory, with a very pleasant and fresh piney, hoppy finish. Truly a blend between an IPA and a Belgian.

Bottle from Liquor Barn into a tulip glass. Aroma is definitely complex with Belgian yeast and hops.

From a 22 oz bottle. Pours copper amber translucent with nice carbonation and 3/4" head. Citrus nose, sweet hoppy smell, and a tad of coriander? Claims to be a marriage of a trippel and an IPA. First taste is of white peppercorn. Complex taste with a clean finish and a tad spicy. A solid performer, but not a drink all day beer.
