This was the 2012 Otsuchi commemorative bomber. Aroma of molasses, apples, raisins and a hint of cotton candy. Gorgeous clear garnet beer with thin tan head. Medium to heavy sweetness. Strong but well placed alcohol. What a phenomenal collection of flavors in the finish. Raisin, molasses, leather, pipe tobacco, brown bread. Wow! The very full body is balanced by a fairly effervescent carbonation.

This one is the 2017 vintage with a drink by date of March 2033. Murky orange with a tan head. Sweet malt aroma and some ripe dark fruit. Sweet malt taste with more caramel, raisin and plum. Well hidden 12% ABV. Cloying finish. Can't go wrong with this one a $2.29 per bottle. I'll try this 2017 vintage again in 2033 and re-rate if the world is still here.

Was given the 2012 as a Xmas gift, and I’d be damned it weren’t the dandiest ever...Next level craftsmanship here, real nectar of the gods shit. Pours into a snifter a hazelnut Auburn hue, no visible carbonation and a loose, yet creamy head. Aroma of Mediterranean figs and dates. Taste is screaming Boozy Irish Xmas pudding, elements of chicory, licorice and chocolate liqueur. Finish is buttery and long and decadent like a German chocolate cake washed down with Spanish brandy. The 5yr plus aging, gives it an almost Dominican Republic cigar quality. Simply brilliant, cheers North Coast.

Bomber 2011 Aroma of chocolate-covered plum. Flavors follow, with raisin, toffee, caramel, overripe apricot and some licorice. OMG.

1st time trying this, interesting that it changes over time. A style I like and this seemed to fit in. A malt bomb, but has some elements from having the sweets overwhelm. Nose is tons of figs and some caramel. Appearance is brown with reddish highlights, pretty clear, pretty flat. Very sticky mouthfeel, with some sweet taste, some warming booze, the carbonation worked to keep the palate clean from the sweet, along with the booze, and a cleanness helped too. Taste was dark fruit, and alcohol burned slightly at the end. Very enjoyable though not my favorite malt bomb style.

i drank this as the current year (2017) vintage. maybe a couple years in the cellar would've improved it. all i got was cloying, sweet, dark stone fruit, especially of the prune variety. definitely one of my least favorite styles of old ale.

Uber, Seattle. Creamy low head on dark mostly cloudy orange amber. Sip is creamy and full, cherry and red fruit in a creamy package. Some strawberries. Nice. Some sweet caramel, alcohol warmth burns behind. Cool and fairly sweet. Smooth. Nice.

Barwa ciemnobrązowa, piana spora. Aromat lekki karmel, kandyzowane figi, morele, jagody, trochę miodu. W smaku mega gładkie. Są suszone owoce fig, moreli, winogron, lekki karmel, jagoda, trochę biszkopta. Pifko mega gładkie, alko niewyczuwalne jedynie miło łechce przełyk. Dobre pifko.

Vintage 2017

No head. Dark ruby coloured beer.

Aroma is dried dates, apricot marmalade, raisins, figs and roasted malts.

Taste dried dates, toffee, raisins, tobacco, oak barrel, slight vanilla and a hint of dried dark berries.

Mouthfeel is rich and frothy, with a really nice medium-high bitterness. Some stickiness. High carbonation. No notes of pure alcohol detected at 12% ABV, impressive!

Overall: Very well made Old Ale. This would age beautifully, too high on carbonation at the moment. The taste notes die out a bit early but other than that, it's great! Definitely a beer I will buy every year.

Bottle from Systembolaget. We tried vintage 2009, 2012, 2013, 2015 and 2016. The rating is for vintage 2012 which was the best one. Dark amber with a small head. Sweetish with dried fruit, malt, caramel and some brandy. The body was full and the finish with warming alcohol.
