Nice clear light amber almost gold with an thick lacy off-white thick head. Nice floral smell with a fruity peach, with pine, malt, and citrus hops. Medium frothy body. Excellent balance between woody, malty and sweet and dry hoppy end. Flowery and fruity in the middle balancing out the sweet caramel and the herbal finish. Overall doesn’t have the super hop kick of some IPAs and that is nice too. Very smooth and dry, refined. Unexpected, and well done.

50cl (?) bottle. Copper color. Yeasty and earthy aroma. Rich spice and malt flavor, a bit metallic. This rocks.

550ml bottle. Clear amber colour with a one-two finger off-white head. Aroma: malty, biscuity, toffee, caramel. Taste: sweet biscuity malts, caramel, toffee, fruity, hint of citrus, quite well balanced, light hop bitterness in the finish. Medium bodied, carbonation is soft-medium, extremely smooth mouthfeel very easy drinking. Classic traditional English IPAs are not my thing but I enjoyed this one, great example of the style.

Keg at Sinclairs Oyster Bar, Manchester. A clear amber colour with a medium off white head. Aroma of fruit esters, grapefruit, some caramel, slight toasted, biscuity malts and subtle earthy hops. Taste of toasted, biscuity malts, caramel, slight grapefruit and subtle spicy, earthy hops. Light to medium bodied and soft carbonation. A dry, earthy malt bitterness in the finish. Well hopped for a premium bitter, lots of British hop character and subtle citrus. Malty overall but pretty good.

Keg at the Rising Sun in Smithfield. A very English IPA that looked nice and dark in the glass and had a good head. There was low carbonation and a pleasant mouthfeel. There was a strong and bitter flavour from the hops that was quite thirst quenching. It’s not spectacular, but very solid and one that I will quite happily have again when I am next in a Sam Smiths pub.

Bottle. BB May 2017; Drank Apr 2017 - Clear Orangey Gold colour. Good foamy off-white head. Very Malty; toasty malts, grainy, caramel. Light citrus grapefruit. Mildly spicy. Well hopped, grassy hops. Earthy vibe. Starts bittersweet malty hoppy with slight fruit and spicy notes. Becomes increasing dry throughout. Ends very very dry and bitter malty. Long lasting bone dry finish. Interesting beer; possibly unique flavour profile. Cannot remember the last time I had a beer that ended this dry. Liked it. Good stuff. (2017-04)

DraftDodger (1452) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - MAR 14, 2017
Copenhagen 14/3 2017. 55 cl bottle from Høkeren. Some kind of pavilion on the label with the ubiquitous collection of gold medals. Pours clear golden yellow with big white head. Settles as 1 cm thick layer of foam. Moderate lacing. Aroma is fruity. Fermented fruit, very light citric notes and harsh bitterness. Medium carbonation and slightly thick palate. Flavor is lightly sweet followed by amore heavy slightly rough bitterness. Aftertaste is bitter and long. Nice English Bitter - solid and classical.
