Kasteel Rouge is a blend of Kasteel Donker and cherry liquor. The mix of these two excellent products creates an exceptional soft beer with references to the dark mother beer.

330ml bottle into a tulip. Pours a clear deep ruby red with a half finger reddish-tan head. Decent head retention forming a thin cap over the beer but lacing is practically nonexistent. Aroma is nearly all cherries. Very reminiscent of cherry Kool-Aid. There are some Belgian Lambic undertones, however, with horse blanket and barnyard letting you know this isnt a soft drink. Really a unique, inviting aroma. Flavor carries over the characteristics of the aroma with sweet cherry juice along with tartness contributed by the cherries. However underneath the cherry is barnyard funk very typical of a Lambic. This serves to well balance out the fruit and add complexity. While this beer is on the sweet side it never gets cloying and the tartness really helps drinkability. Finish is only slightly sticky and a little drying. Overall, I am very impressed with this beer and wish I would have opened it up over the summer when it was warmer. The alcohol is nowhere to be found and this is really a guzzler. I really need to seek out some more Krieks and see how this stacks up.

9. 5. 2017, Pivopis, Ljubljana. Bottled. Dominant sour cherry flavour overriding malt and hops ferociously. Not a bad thing though, but not balanced at all. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

The cherry taste seems a little overwhelming and not natural. Still goes along with the base of the beer quite well. Seemed too sweet at first, but once you get used to it, its good.

Najlepszy z wiśniowych lambikw, jakie znam. Alkohol robi tu robotę. Szklanka z nżką, czuję się jak dziewczyna. Trudno.

Bottle. Pours clear ruby. Aroma is artificial infused cherries, stone. Body is heavy and sweet, artificial cherries, sticky. Cherry palate, but still not a nice one. If you like cherry infusions, why not, but otherwise rather no.

0,33l bottle. Clear deep ruby colour with slowly shrinking but lasting light pink head. Aroma: Sourcherry (bubblegum) with an intense funky/basement aromas and light marcipan notes. Taste: A short sweet start with a very pleasent and fruity sour mouthfeel. Has an oily texture. Medium body with fizzy carbontion. Short sour finish.

Surprisingly good. The estery softness and caramel-like qualities of the Donker and the cherries mix rather well!

Can. Deep ruby. Pink head. Subtle lovely cherries, caramel, chocolate on aroma. Light to medium body. The taste starts with cherry stone. Dryish. After that dark malts come. Chocolate, dried fruit. Light fruity bitterness ending. Moderate alcohol. Good mix.
