(on tap @ YNWA Kolding) This was served fresh from a new keg on a tap that had just served the last of an Anna keg. The friendly bartender poured the first 2 litre of the new keg through the system to rinse out the old beer. I’m not an expert on keg serving so I trust the judgement of a professional. The Clara pours a delightfully clear copper with rich, firm white head with good retention. The aroma however seems very unusual to me. The initial impression seems dominated by yeasty notes and cheese. This impression seems to subside after a while but remains hovering unpleasantly in the background. Creamy mouthfeel from the head that remains floating on top for a long time. Medium carbonation with a medium body, and a moderately bitter finish. Taste is moderately bitter. I guess my taste in hops is somewhat simplistic as I tend to prefer the citrus and tropical fruits of American and NZ hops in pale ales. The hop impression I get here (from the flavour rather than the aroma) is more medicinal or perhaps herbal. All in all I have to say I was a bit disappointed in this one. The aroma was decidedly unpleasant but it looks great and has a nice mouthfeel.

On tap at Esbjerg Beerfestival. A hazy, dark orange-golden beer with a decent beige head leaving lacings. Citrus, citrus-candy, umami, sweetness, caramel and some resin in the aroma. The flavor is malty-sweet with caramel in the back. Lots of citrus, resin and pineapple. Bitter. Full-bodied, sweet and slightly warming. Pineapple, malty sweetness and bitterness in the finish. A tasteful beer, not too bitter, and dangerously easy drinking. 091023
