UPDATED: DEC 28, 2014 On tap poured into a snifter glass. Smells sweet with notes of maple, molasses, and a touch of bread and oak. It pours a dark, murky mahogany color with a beige colored, soapy head that retains a thick ring around the glass, a messy surface, and just a light lacing. It’s mostly sweet (medium-high) with a medium-light bitterness. The mouth is full bodied and malty rich with a maple and molasses forward flavor, accompanied by a mellow, oaky whiskey and port wine. It?s texture is oily and sticky with a creamy carbonation. Toffee and oak dominate the finish accompanied by a light, mild bread note and an alcohol warmth. The aftertaste is reminiscent of a turtle candy with an alcohol dryness. This one is a nice dessert beer. beastiefan2k (4179) - HdG (past: NYC, KS, Rain City), Maryland, USA - JAN 12, 2014
Draft at brewpub. Ugly brown drain water appearance. Thick like a puddle with some spit like lacing. Aroma has a strong smell of rotten apples. A mix of high octane, autolysis, and unfermented caramel malts. Fortunately, the flavor is much nicer. Light sweet and earth brown malts with some unfermentables left over. Just a light apple character at the end
. Lighter and less high octane than expected. Sweet brown sugar syrup aftertaste. Hate the aroma, fine with flavor.
