If beer is food, Dark Side is the main course. This is vanilla with a delightful char flavor - as if the beans were skewered and roasted by hand over a camp fire. With a stout-like texture for the mouth and controlled bitterness, but with all the aroma you’re seeking (when served from a glass, of course), Dark Side is grand alone - and great with many full-bodied foods. Grab two Dark Side Vanilla Porters, dark bread and "stinky" cheese and you’ve got a fine meal! jaegerwin (1) - - AUG 31, 2013 does not count
Great local porter, not quite as good as Breckenridge VP but still a very good local brew. mjmoen (519) - - OCT 30, 2015
UPDATED: APR 11, 2017 B+. Pours a black color with khaki head. Smooth and flavorful. The vanilla really comes through and compliments the porter nicely. zebra (2096) - Illinois, USA - APR 15, 2012
the best vanilla beer i’ve had (that hasn’t been barrel-aged). smoother. i wonder what their secret is. BOSSbrewer (2705) - Arkansas, USA - SEP 5, 2013
Nice. Mild. This is a very good and under rated beer. Had in Chicago at a pizza place. Nice beer.

Pitch black with a nice creamy head. Super creamy consistency. The flavor borders between the vanilla coke I got on the first swallow and a coffee ice cream that I got later. LordofTime25 (6) - Whittemore, Iowa, USA - OCT 24, 2013 does not count
Tasty creamy vanilla porter that is smooth in your mouth as it goes down. Definitely recommend it! Obfuscate (568) - Minneapolis, - NOV 5, 2016
Not as Good as their peanut butter porter but a solid beer. Light cream, milk and vanilla flavors. Smooth and light for the style. Almost a sweet stout / porter AustinMilbarge (681) - Denver, Colorado, USA - MAY 23, 2003
Served way, way to cold, but flavors still managed to come out while waiting for it to warm. Maybe the brewery fixed things since KVFL had this, because I found this to be one of the tastiest porters I've ever had the pleasure of tasting. Creamy, tan head. Sweet malty, vanilla aroma. Great mouthfeel with coffee and chocolate flavors in just the right strength. Just a pint left me with a buzz for the better part of an hour, my empty stomach might have had a little to with that though. On my way back to school I'll have to stop back by Lazlo's and get a case of this stuff.
