Irgendwie unrund. 0,33l Flasche von MITRA in Tilburg. MHD Heute 😀. Deshalb nur 1,70 !?

Beautiful, luminous brassy amber body, with a luxurious peach-amber tinged head. A fair amount of chunky debris rests at the bottom of the glass. Rich malty grainyness in the nose comes with age and lots of melanoidin and caramel malt. Well-rounded malty body, nice fullness to it. This brew imparts a healthy warming quality to the body and soul. Caramel and melanoidin, caravienne, and Vienna. Muted hops notes throughout. Lovely cereal grain at the back of the palate. No off-flavors, and the yeast seems completely subdued and clean, albeit there may be a flicker of bubblegum. Toasty caramel and bready finish.

During pouring some big chunks of sediment came out of the bottle. I stoped pouring immediately to see what was wrong, but I cant say anything was wrong. Maybe the rather cold storage place has created some protein sediments or such. The beer itself looks nice, accept for the big flakes floating around. The color of the beer is a nice peachy quite red orange. The beer is cloudy (and flakey). On top of the beer a nice slightly off white foam is formed. The bulk of the foam collapses quickly, leaving a nice thin creamy drape. The smell of the beer is nice. It has a nice Belgian Ale smell, full of yeast aromas. For me, that is what makes Trappist special. Most of them are quite yeasty. There is a nice doughy and raisiny, rather sweet yeast smell. Besides this there are nice malt aromas. There arent really sweet malt aromas. The malts and yeast together are somewhat creamy. There is a nice hoppy sour and bitter twist, a bit floral and grassy. This forms a nice twist to the cream yeast and malt. Good smell. The taste of the beer is nice. Not as yeasty and creamy as the smell though. There are besides the plain malt features also some licorice tones. The sweet and creamy yeast is not so much present. The liquorice is a bit to strong in my opinion. A tiny bit out of balance. Hops are not clearly present in the taste. The palate of the beer is quite simple. Medium body, a bit creamy texture, but not to creamy, and medium to high carbonation. The finish is a bit weird. It has that liquorice in it, that is a bit to strong. I dont really like this part. It seems a tiny bit out of balance somehow. Not bad, but not the best Trappist Ive had.
