3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours with large head that rises above glass rim and stays. Aroma is very pleasant with hint of honey. Head has metallic taste. Beer itself has a hoppy flavor with a sweet finish. Has a bit of a scotch-like taste without the harshness. A very good beer.
You can really smell the honey and hops but it's not too sweet. Great beer.

Pours a hazy mahogany. Medium body. Creamy. Medium carbonation. Boozy. Sugary. Notes of coca and rum soaked raisins. A gambit of flavors evolve in the mouth. Not the best Trappist quad of the bunch, but a damn fine beer

UPDATED: OCT 25, 2017 Foggy brown pour with a fast fading kaki colored head. Nice roasted aroma. Dark chocolate and red forest fruits rising up in my nostrils. Loving it!!! As for the taste, chocolate and espresso are boss. Bread, dark roasted malts and the fruits again. Alcohol is there but doesn't choke ya. The body is medium to rich and almost creamy. Low to medium carbonation, just right. Pleasantly surprised by this one. This can measure up to some of the better trappists out there. Both thumbs up!!!! stevoj (5586) - Boise, Idaho, USA - OCT 23, 2017
bottle from Das Alpenhaus. Dark brown turns ruby when held to the light. Small, tight beige head. Aroma is chocolate, plums, raisins, light savory notes. Taste is a bit fuller, more chocolate, sweet like chocolate covered cherries, nice feel, coats he tongue and lingers for a while.lots of nice flavors, little heat.Still best to sip slowly and savor the taste. drmet (1026) - GERMANY - OCT 4, 2017
-pours a cloudy mahogany brown with a small to medium,frothy,sand-coloured head
-Yeast flakes visible at the bottom of the glass
-astringent,cherries,plums,r with a grassy bitterniss
-high bitterniss for the style
-medium to full body
Not as Yeast-heavy as the "True" Belgians.Dark Fruit esters are more prominent in this.
It almost goes into Flanders Red territory with it's Balsamic vinegar note.
A really good and interesting Trappist.

330ml bottle from Silpo (thx, Vlad!). BB 2017-06-10. Pours a very dark brown with a beige head. Aroma is dried fruits (dates, figs), caramel. Similar taste with some strange bitterness. Quite good. gausti (16) - AUSTRIA - SEP 17, 2017
Dark brown to dark red colour, taste of honey, bread and a bit of dried fruits. Smell is honey and dried fruits. A bit bitter in the aftertaste, overall a really good beer! DonGregorio (552) - POLAND - SEP 10, 2017
Bottle (2 months before expiration date). Hazy copper to brown colour, average to large tan head. Aroma of caramel, raisins, prunes, apples, dried fruits. Taste is medium to heavy sweet and light bitter, of caramel, raisins, figs, prunes, apples, toffee, light alcohol. Rather sweet finish with notes of caramel and dried fruits. Medium to full body, oily texture, average carbonation. Overall: really good and mature quad, very nice sipper. Cristobal37 (1235) - Budapest, HUNGARY - SEP 7, 2017
Bottle bb 11/2018 light brown color. Woody, whisky, sugary and malty. Malty, iced tea, dried apricot, peach. Full flavor remains for a long time. Legit quad, for whatever reason it's not mind blowing, but still a great accomplishment for the only Austrian Trappist.
