4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
DATE TASTED: October 26, 2013... GLASSWARE: HopDevil nonick... OCCASION: offering PSU some comeback inspiration... APPEARANCE: jet black body; oatmeal-thick brown head; lacing is uneven but thick as well... AROMA: crisp, candied flavor; toasted nut and oat undergird thee spiciness that is as much holiday as mischief night...PALATE: slightly warming, medium-bodied and drinkable--the IMPERIAL aspect is so subtle one quickly/nervously sips...TASTE: pumpkin, apple, peat and an odd funk of medicinal/plastic bottle vodka that takes the rating down a click--still big and old...OVERALL: of the handful of fall bombers I bought, this dares to blend the fall and winter seasons, and it does so deftly; a powerful punch of alcohol by the bottle’s end only endears the drink more...more the Galloping Hessian than the Great Pumpkin, in terms of its substance and strength...
22oz bottle. Poured a dark brown with an off white head. I like my pumpkin beers less spice and more pumpkin - this was not that. Some chocolate and vanilla, but the spices... DuffMan (10433) - the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, CANADA - JAN 26, 2017
Bottle. Very dark brown, amber highlights, average beige head. Spicy chocolate, vanilla cookie, hints of pumpkin. Very well balanced with a nice proportion of flavours, not too much of any one thing. Surprising! Beerdedone (3408) - Croydon, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 31, 2016

Tap at Clubhouse BFD. Pours black, tan head. Aroma is chocolate malt and some pumpkin spice. Flavor is mostly chocolate, with a slightly pumpkin-y presence. Flavor is chocolate, roasted malt, some cinnamon, mild pumpkin spice, but not much in the pumpkin department. Coffee finish is nice.

650ml bottle pours a deep amber brown color with a finger and a half of light beige head that leaves some spotted lacing on the glass. Aroma is pumpkin, chocolate, roasted grains and a range of pumpkin pie spices. Taste is a chocolate malty and pumpkin sweetness with a light roasted grain bitterness and the pumpkin pie spices. Medium bodied with good carbonation. Overall, a very tasty pumpkin ale, could be one of the best I have ever tried. Recommended. Imaena (2322) - Maputo, MOZAMBIQUE - NOV 17, 2016

Tap at Hair of the Dog, Phromh Phong. Poured a murky light brown with a thin broken white head. The aroma is pumpkin, chocolate, yeast. The flavour is light grainy sour witn a dry earthy coffee malt mineral light fruit palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. Great on the nose then it all fell apart. September 15th, 2014 - Apparently this brew was so good that I couldn’t even be bothered to take a photograph of it between greedy bouts of frenzied quaffing. But my notes tell part of the story, describing a heavily malted nose, layered with chocolate and chocolate mousse, and dotted with raspberries covered in chocolate. The aroma is smooth, milky and enticing. Sugary sweet, the flavor opens up, feigns modesty at first, and then kicks in some pumpkin flavors in the mid-taste. The aftertaste, though, is the real kernel of brilliance, with some black pepper and sweet potato, and ending with a dry kick, including canned pumpkin and a small sachet of herbs. tmoreau (4365) - Lombard, Illinois, USA - NOV 1, 2016
Shared bomber poured to snifters showing a black/brown hue, with light ruby highlighting at the stem, off white/ light tan head foam, and dots & dashes of lacing. The nose was roasted, coffee & cocoa, spice & vanilla, some malt sweetness, pumpkin patch earthiness, a good deal of vegetable & greenery. Medium bodied, with soft carbonation, the taste added a roasted & earthy bitterness, a bit of booze, and finished dry. Decent seasonal brew.
