Tap @ Parkway. Cloudy brown pour with a persistent, white head leaving moderate lace. Nose is tart and spicy, like any good sour brown. Medium-light body with light, fine carbonation. Opening is very lactic with a metallic taste that lasts well through the finish. Midway through, some Brett funk and butterscotch enter and the funk disappears quickly while the butterscotch lasts. Very little smoke in the middle, less in the finish. There needs to be something else to support this beer in the middle, the sour and funk are not enough on their own. Or make it more funky/rotten and call it a challenge. As it is, this is my least favorite Epic Ale.
