650ml bottle pours almost black in color with a finger of beige head that leaves only a few spots of lacing on the glass. Aroma is roasted malts and chocolate with some earthy notes and traces of coffee. Taste is roasted malty bitterness with some chocolately sweetness and a earthy hop bitterness. Medium body and soft carbonation. This is one of my favorites from this brewery so far. Nicely balanced and well done. portableparty (2350) - Blaine, Minnesota, USA - MAY 1, 2010
Bottle shared thanks Greg. Pour is black in color with a tan head. Aroma is very earthy and vegetables. Taste again very vegetable and spice and theres hints of chocolate as well. This has a sticky and chaulky dry feel. Overall not a bad beer, I enjoyed this quite abit. robforbes (2242) - Bremerton, Washington, USA - MAY 10, 2010
pours a dark brown with a red tint, a thin khaki head that dissipates, and not much lacing.
smell is of bakers chocolate, malt, earth, some coffee, and just a touch of campfire.
taste is of hops, malt, cocoa, some coffee, dirt, and some smoke in the back, ends a little dry and somewhat bitter.

Pours dark brown with tan head, aroma is big shittake mushrooms, earth, almost dirt like but in a good way. Taste is some chocolate, nuts, earth, and mushrooms with a fairly dry and bitter finish. Not bad, kind of weird but true to what they say from the style! LamarBurton (376) - California, USA - DEC 6, 2010
Bottle to taster. At Levi’s. From notes. I really liked this beer more than I was expecting to. Pours a somewhat unappealing dark hazy brown with some chunks. Smells like someone poured coffee grounds on the earth...in the best sort of way. Chocolate and mushrooms in there as well. Taste is also earthy, with some burnt malt, biscuit, with no hops to speak of. Mouthfeel is slightly thin. Would love more of this.

12oz bottle. Poured a deep brown color with a smaller sized off white head. Aromas of earth, roast, wet moldy forest floor, and some coffee. Tastes of earth, ’salty’, roast, licorice, some chocolate, and some coffee. This one was different and interesting. skoisirius (1909) - Earth, Washington, USA - SEP 9, 2011
What a concept. The mushroom beer. Actually I’ve had a friend brew a stout with "other" types of mushrooms...that was fun ;). This pours a lovely beige color, nice tan head. Seriously, smells of mushroom. Hints of roast. Flavor...is strange! Mushroom, roast, chocolate, and slight burnt flavors mix fairly well, but could be a bit...better. I liked it, I like the idea, but something like this could be even more fully bodied for me. BMan1113VR (7931) - Los Angeles, California, USA - APR 16, 2010
Bottle via a trade with Scrizzz. Pours with a deep brown body and a tan head. Aroma is extremely earthy, toasted sesame seeds, chocolate, roasty, umami, soy, and steak. Taste is earthy, roasty and a bit bitter, long and ashy, umami, smoke. Light bubbles.
Very interesting beer. Rosebud butternuts (2396) - Denton, Texas, USA - MAY 4, 2010

Bottle thanks to Suzygreenberg. Pours near black with a large brown head that dissipates quickly. Aroma is interesting as it smells very earthy with a hint of mushroom on the nose. Flavor is very earthy as well with notes of mushroom and roasted malts.
