Tap Pour. Deep black colour with small amounts of off white head. Hoppy nose with hidden malt notes. Light body with a solid malt flavour and the strong hoppy flavours come through again.

Dark cola pour, thin tan head. Spicy aroma with fruit hop notes. Rich malt, cherry notes and a long hop finish with some licorice notes.

UPDATED: JAN 5, 2017 On tap at Vultures Lane. Pine, orange, chocolate, toast. Little oily texture. Not bad.

BB 7.4.16 so not super fresh. Really dark brown with red tinge, head is tan and thick. Roasted malt and subdued floral hops. Taste jumped up a few notches with lots of hop bitterness and a rich firm roast chocolate malt, i only wish it was fresh, still really good Black IPA

Pours jet black with creamy white head. Smells of a nice porter on first sniff with a hit of fruit salad-y hops. Lovely balance of robust depth with hoppy freshness ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Quite a soft IPA on the palate - good toasted malt flavours that linger. Not overly boozy and easy to drink.

Maris (1640) - Canberra, AUSTRALIA - OCT 27, 2015
From a 500ml bottle on 27/10/2015. Pours a dark brown with a big light tan head. The aroma features lots of fruity hops and some light roasty and chocolate notes. The flavour is rich and balanced, with more roasted and chocolate malt, lots of sweet citrus fruit, and oodles of firm hops. Medium bodes with soft carbonation. A really good black IPA.

DylansDad (674) - North Shore, Auckland, NEW ZEALAND - OCT 8, 2015
Delicious. Dark roasty slightly sweet and smoky malt melds brilliantly with the pine and citrus hops. Lightish body stops things getting too confused. Dry medium bitter finish. The pint is gone very quickly.

Earplay (51) - NEW ZEALAND - SEP 11, 2015
Aroma of citrus, some caramel and some roast. Taste is citrus grapefruit hop flavour mingling with roasty chocolate malt character. Unusual pairing at first sip, almost medicinal tasting, but overall enjoyed the combination. One of the few black IPAs I’ve tried so far and was impressed.

nezzapunk (28) - - AUG 31, 2015
Pours black with good carbonation and decent thick foamy head. Smell is plentiful lots of light zesty fruit with a hint of toffee and licorice. Taste is a bit all over the place with usual IPA flavours but with a kinda burnt edge making it a little bit too bitter, fine on the palate great rolling texture good fizz. A little bit unbalanced feel like the beer needs more punch maybe a higher ABV would make it better or just a bit more whacky!
