The first sip of this brilliant, red-brown beer reveals a robust mouth feel and complex flavors including raisin, dark bread, some sherry flavors sure to increase with age, resin hops, a touch of old barrel. With the finish comes the aroma and flavor of Columbus hops in your mouth, being followed by the alcohol warmth that can be felt down your throat.

Pour on tap at the brewery, dark reddish pour with off white head, aroma brought notes of dark fruit, cocoa, lots of caramel, molasses, hints of earth, slight red fruits in there as well, hints of grass. Taste is a mix of grass, spice, hints of dark fruit, chocolate, touch of nuts, caramel, toffee, finishing sweet. Pretty nice.

This was a surprisingly satisfying beer. Dark red pour, almost no head. Heavy fruit aroma, a hard sweet with some concentrated fruit. Tasted like it smelled, very sweet on the front end and bitter the rest of the way. A long, honey/concentrated fig-plummy taste, thick and sweet. Viscous and satisfying, yet, all Stills and Nash, not nearly enough Crosby balance. Still, a very, very good and satisfying beer. Would I drink again? absolutely yes. Would I order again? yes.

Tap @ the brewery tap room. Pours a clear amber beer with a small beige head. Aroma is boozy, caramel, and slight roasted characters. Flavour is epic, big american hopped up barley wine. Full of alcoholic sweetness with a huge bitter hop presence in there. Wow, simply amazing and complex. Truly epic.

From Release # 10. Dark crimson red with a filmy head and strong haze. Carbonation visible is moderate. Nose has a strong caramel, malty and chocolate scent with some pungent grapefruit and citrus hop notes. Flavor is surprisingly malty with caramel, chocolate, roasted barley and the citrus hop notes provide a good backup; A bit boozy tasting. Body is rather heavy and the carbonation starts out strong but tapers off after a while. Pretty good barleywine.

Tap at the Denver tap room - fairly good American-style barleywine here - soft, creamy, full, and round in the mouth - quite bright, fruity, and floral - sweet, with notes of plum, caramel, but not overly sweet - there is also a fair amount of balancing hop character - pepper, pine, medium bitterness - could be more complex, but quite enjoyable.

Release #11.
Appearance: The body is a mud colored brown with a murky body to back it up. The head is tall and dense with average retention, settling into a full coating with bubbly edges.
Aroma: Rye bread, dried figs, basement musk, and hints of grapefruit. The aroma is a bit weak.
Taste: Very malty with brown sugar and dried figs in the background, becoming prominent around the finish, the finish is strong of rye bread with the spice to match and mild alcohol. Spicy hops and hints of grapefruit are noted throughout.
Palate: Medium to thick bodied with mild carbonation.
Overall: This is okay, I like it the more I drink it, but it comes too too spicy.
