Poured as a taster at Denver taproom. toffee caramel malt on nose, lot of dark malt notes on palate, lots of alcohol, long finish, need some sweetness to balance the bitterness. Not as complex as I had hoped for. arkurzynski (2456) - Combined Locks, Wisconsin, USA - DEC 30, 2013
Deep, deep garnet pour. Big raisin, and toasted malt, nearing roasted malt with dank citrus pine hops. Toasted nut, burnt biscuit, tobacco, and booze. Flavor is rum soaked raisin, bitter citrus rind, toasted/candied malt, and faint roasted malt. Residual burnt toast and mild dark fruit. Big and moderately boozy. Very interesting take on the American barley wine style. Dig the toasty/roasty elements. Good base beer candidate for barrel aging IMO. alexanderj (3605) - Branson, Missouri, USA - DEC 22, 2013
Bottle; poured a muddy auburn type color with an off white to khaki head. Aroma of pine, caramel, earth, dark fruit and some vanilla/wood. Slightly sweet, caramel, cookies and fruit; earthy and piney. Good stuff arminjewell (9720) - East Lansing, Michigan, USA - DEC 17, 2013
Pour on tap at the brewery, dark reddish pour with off white head, aroma brought notes of dark fruit, cocoa, lots of caramel, molasses, hints of earth, slight red fruits in there as well, hints of grass. Taste is a mix of grass, spice, hints of dark fruit, chocolate, touch of nuts, caramel, toffee, finishing sweet. Pretty nice. ajnepple (6995) - Denver, Colorado, USA - DEC 12, 2013
On tap at Colorado Plus. Malty, strong and sweet with caramel and light chocolate balanced by earthy, piney, light bitter hops. Medium bodied with a crisp, soft feel and a dry, lingering finish.

This was a surprisingly satisfying beer. Dark red pour, almost no head. Heavy fruit aroma, a hard sweet with some concentrated fruit. Tasted like it smelled, very sweet on the front end and bitter the rest of the way. A long, honey/concentrated fig-plummy taste, thick and sweet. Viscous and satisfying, yet, all Stills and Nash, not nearly enough Crosby balance. Still, a very, very good and satisfying beer.
Would I drink again? absolutely yes.
Would I order again? yes. anders37 (26878) - Malmö, SWEDEN - NOV 8, 2013
