Bottle from Bottleworks, Seattle; release 14, 10.4% ABV, batch 1294mcberko (17178) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - JUL 8, 2014
Hazy mahogany color with small head. Malt and perfume aroma, dash of dusty roasty malts. Round mouthfeel, malty flavor, caramel, a bit nutty, sweet but not syrupy; the bitterness level is correct; the fruity and resiny level of hops is moderate.
Nice but not impressive.
22 oz. bottle, pours a dark caramel orange amber with a small head. Aroma brings out toasted chestnuts, spicy hops, and a touch of caramel bready malt. Flavour is very similar, with lots of spice, toasted nuts, and dry dark fruits. Too spicy and nutty for a barley wine. Acceptable, but off the mark for me. jtclockwork (16436) - , New Jersey, USA - MAY 3, 2012
