Bottle.Clear golden with a fizzy white head. Oak, citrus, vanilla, caramel, and fruity grape/white wine notes to the aroma and taste. Nice creamy palate. Really damn good! beer4eternity (226) - Tauranga, NEW ZEALAND - MAY 11, 2012
500ml bottle. My usual analytical style of rating would just take away from the experience that was this epic beer. This is truly deserving of the appellation "Epic". Delicious delightful and yummy in every way. Love it. ljujayi (2) - - JUL 3, 2015 does not count
I like it!!! It’s my first time to drink Epic’s beer. Great smoothness on the palate, full-bodied aroma. The taste is moderate bitter, have some oak smell. jmohno (1619) - Iowa, USA - DEC 1, 2011
Bright gold color very clear, good head layer lasting with lacing.
Very nice hoppy aroma alot of citrus with floral and spice some dankness but pretty clean and fresh and hoppy smelling.
Taste has a basic light malt carmel sweetness some toast nicely hoppy tasting with some good wood oakness a bit of sour/tart towards the bittering finish. Pretty oaky, i like oak more in a maltier beer but this is fine. This is a really nice ipa.Overall its fantastic. Too bad its so pricey and hard to get for me. Bottle 50 cl. Courtesy of bluebetty. Clear amber with a creamy and lacing off-white head. Amazingly fresh aroma hops in the nose - Sorachi Ace? Or is it just the barrel adding this sophisticated edge? Medium body, very dry fruit, again these extremely sophisticated notes - comes out as Sorachi Ace, but it may be the barrel coming in. Dry and bitter finish - but not excessively so. Incredibly delicious. 021110 madsberg (11770) - Søborg, DENMARK - NOV 2, 2010
Bottled. Golden coloured. Unclear. Dense off white head. Aroma of flowers, lychee, lime and other exotic fruits. Delicious. Flavour of flowers, herbs, sweetness, fruits and spice. Medium to full bodied. Dry flowery bitterness in the end. Jimthechap (2064) - Christchurch, NEW ZEALAND - MAY 9, 2011
Pours with a fluffy, enduring head. Clear, more amber than copper in colour (as far as I could make out in the light). This beer is Armageddon plus barrel aging. There’s the signature huge hoppiness with Chardonnay butteriness, vanillin and sourdough. It smells rich and complex.
To taste it is initially sharp with spice, Christmas cake allspice, cinnamn and butter. Lip-smackingly interesting and there seems to be a bit of chilli-heat as well. The wood character is dominant, but not overwhelming. Blue cheesey even. Tasted at 16-17 months old. ngeunit1 (1555) - Waltham, Massachusetts, USA - SEP 2, 2012
A - Pours a clear golden-orange color with a finger of frothy white head. The head fades down at a normal pace leaving behind some nice lacing.
S - Aroma is a mix of grapefruit, pineapple, citrus, and floral hops with some oak, vanilla, and sweet caramel malts.
T - Starts off with a mix of grapefruit, passion fruit, and other tropical hops with some bitterness, sweet caramel malts, and some vanilla. Through the middle, the floral and lightly spicy hops come through with some more bitterness and some oak and some biscuit malts. The finish is a mix of tropical and floral hops with some bitterness, oak, and sweet bready malts.
M - Medium-full bodied with moderate carbonation. Feels smooth with a dry, bitter, and lightly warming finish.
D - Very drinkable. The barrel flavor comes through nicely and the base IPA is strong enough to balance things out nicely. Mattburns (114) - USA - AUG 20, 2010
I really enjoyed this. It isn’t as good as the Armageddon, but it is very interesting. You can still capture all the qualities of the original, especially all the big hops, though you have this smooth oak over the top. It is really pleasant and warming. I couldn’t drink this all day, but was a beautiful bottle to share with a mate!
