Aroma of saffron, vanilla, wet coffee grounds, dark chocolate. Appears like coffee with caramel foam and lace. Wet coffee grounds really stands out and dark chocolate for taste. Palate is ordinary. Overall, great aroma, the rest is rather ordinary.

Tap. Super dark black. Really nice lingering layer of tan head. Espresso chocolate nose. Rich, syrupy body. Apparent booziness, bourbon sweetness, rich chocolate. Perfect with something sweet.

Bottled (release 12, 10.8%) at Oliver Twist, Stockholm. Pitch black, small head. Huge coffee aroma. Sweet with full body and rounded mouthfee. Coffee and treacle. Black pepper. Black pepper, crude oil and tobacco. Somewhat edgy.

Wow! The aroma is slightly subdued of coffee and chocolate, pours a dark brown with a lasting tan head. Amazing taste of mocha and coffee with a full body and a wonderful chocolate finish.

UPDATED: APR 21, 2015 From a bottle at the brewery. Pours rich dark brown with a fizzy tan head. Smells like rich coffee, nutty roasted malt, light alcohol, sweet and dry, light spice. Tastes like rich roasted malt, smooth alcohol, black coffee, semisweet chocolate, and light ash.

UPDATED: DEC 19, 2016 2016 re-rate: Bottle shared. Huge cacao, chocolate fudge brownie nose. Chewy brownies with fudge. Coffee, sweetness is in check. Lingering cacao nib flavor. Really a great imperial stout. On tap at CBM awajicho. Deep dark molasses brown color with a nice tight tan head. Big espresso aromas with hints of bourbon, vanilla, cacao nibs, prune and wood. Taste does not disappoint. Nice boozy warming finish with well-balanced sweetness and bitterness. The cacao, bourbon and vanilla come out even more as it warms up. Great stuff.

Bottle (Releast 27) shared at Porch Nite. Pours dark brown to black with two fingers of tan head. Aroma is lots of dark chocolate, some coffee and slight roast. Really nice beer. Flavor follows aroma and is fairly dry and learn. Really nice.

SHIG (4962) - Wasilla, Alaska, USA - MAR 31, 2015
Bottle shared at Anchorage Feb ’15 Tasting: Poured black with a tan color head. Aroma is strong coffee, cocoa, dark fruit and boozy hints. Taste flows similar with rich cocoa, super strong coffee bite, toasty malt, and very well hidden alcohol. Very warming to the core.

GTAEgeek (2217) - Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA - MAR 30, 2015
22 oz. bottle, shared with Carlson in the backcountry, and drunk from the bottle, because I forgot my glass. Pitch black color, with a small, tan head. Nose is a pleasant mix of coffee and chocolate, with notes of anise, vanilla, and molasses. Very sweet, with some light malt spice, and no roasted bitterness. Heavy body, thick, malty, and slick, with a mild, pleasant aftertaste. This is a big, bold, and delicious stout, and the mixture of treatments is very well done.
