COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Big Bad Baptista is inspired by traditional Mexican coffee, Caf de Olla, which is served with cinnamon and piloncillo, an unrefined sugar. The Cinnamon adds another layer of complexity and accentuates the earthy character of Mexican Coffee, but more importantly, it captures the essence of a place and its culture. As beverage geeks we wanted to pay homage to that rich tradition and offer our unique take.

Big Bad Baptista is a combination of Vanilla, Cinnamon, Mexican coffee roasted by Blue Copper, and Solstice Chocolate cacao nibs. Its luxurious to say the least, with a pleasant warming sensation generated by the cinnamon and alcohol. Enjoying the interplay of chocolate, malt, oak, and spice is the perfect way to spend a cool evening, with friends around a fire.

Bomber to plastic taster. Looks good; a fairly opaque very dark cola with beige head that steadily dissipates into lacing. Smells awesome! Dark malt, chocolate, cinnamon, and oak. Tastes like it smells, but less decadent and balanced. Still good though. Mouthfeel is medium-full to full-bodied and mildly warming. Delicious.

Aroma of cinnamon, coconut, bourbon, vanilla, dark cacao. Taste of cacao, bourbon, vanilla, coffee, the flavorings are very prominent and overwhelming. Quite dry finish. Creamy thinner mouthfeel. Really nice and very nice blending, but the base stout doesnt really stand out.

Bottle (22 oz) shared at tasting. Pitch black with a medium beige head, decent retention, leaving little lacing. Aroma is super spicy (cinnamon, cardamom), coffee aplenty, brown sugar, cane sugar, caramel and alcohol notes. Taste is sweet but not overly so with spices (cinnamon mostly) aplenty, lots of coffee, molasses, brown sugar, alcohol and mild coffee bitterness. Medium-full body. Moderate carbonation. Cinnamon and coffee finish. Intense, flavoful but fun for what it is.

(On tap @ Bottlecraft Little Italy, SD, April 2/17) Pours black with a tight dark tan head that lasts well with spotty lace. Aroma is chocolate milk, vanilla, cacao, brewed dark roast coffee, some dusty toasted malt, cinnamon, a touch savoury, dark malt there supporting the additions. Flavour is lightly sweet, dark malt, subtle bourbon, vanilla, chocolate, creamy, a hint of wood, spicy cinnamon shows up late, black coffee and roast there too, a little drying alcohol. Smooth. Medium full body, soft carb. Lovely. Its not insanely unctuous but there is good flavour concentration and its quite sippable.

ABV; Paper fold on top Thanks, Nick! Was lucky enough to get a bunch of awesome brews from Nick. Was probably most looking forward to this one and Melvins Asterisk IIPA. Right up my alley as the bottle read imperial stout with Mexican coffee, cacao nibs, vanilla & cinnamon, 100% aged in whiskey barrels. Would be shocked if this wasnt near as good as the Mexican Speedway Stout (4.72), but still think it would be at least 4.50. Poured a pitch black color with two fingers of frothy tan lacing. Outstanding uneven foamy lacing. Excellent retention. (Sight - 4.25) Smelled a pleasant mix of flavors, getting cocoa, milk chocolate, coconut flakes, vanilla, cinnamon stick, horchata, buttery caramel and toffee. Reminding me of The Bruery/3 Floyds Rue DFloyd that I loved at the Society party in January. Maybe a touch of buttery bourbon, but not much barrel notes. (Smell - 4.50) Tasted pretty close to the nose. Much more spice here. Got smooth milk chocolate, cocoa, cinnamon, horchata, vanilla, some unknown Mexican spices, rather smooth coffee malts, smooth oaky bourbon, hints of woody dry whiskey, coconut flakes and caramel. (Taste - 4.50) Full body. Creamy-to-sticky texture. Average carbonation. Long, smooth, warming finish. (Feel - 4.75) Wow, this was just awesome. Feel like I underrated it a tad. Would love to have this next to Mexican Speedway Stout and compare. (Overall - 4.50) 4.51 100 A+
