22oz bottle from Dutch’s Bar & Bottle Shop in Cincinnati, OH. Release #3, 10.7%ABV. Pours a cloudy, orange-amber colored body with a thin, fizzy and frothy, off-white, pinkish head that dissipates quickly and leaves a moderate lacing. Aroma is somewhat sweet cherries with a touch of tartness, a good amount of wood, some white wine, a bit of a bready maltiness, and a light phenol note. Flavor is pretty messy IMO. Lots of cherries, Belgian yeast, wood, white wine, and a sweet malt backing that never comes together for me. The cherries are mostly sweet with a bit of a tartness and the yeast is somewhat doughy and phenolic with a light spiciness. Finishes fairly bitter, dry, and spicy, but sweet while drying with a good amount of cherries. Lengthy aftertaste following a medium body and a fizzy carbonation. Overall, this was a bit of a mess for me. A lot of distinct flavors that never blended well together. Fizzy and slightly boozy too. Eh... ngeunit1 (1555) - Waltham, Massachusetts, USA - AUG 24, 2012
A - Pours a cloudy amber-orange color with a finger of frothy white head. The head fades down fairly quickly leaving behind a touch of lace.
S - Aroma is cherries with Belgian yeast, and coriander with some oak, funk, lemon, and a bit of booze.
T - Starts off with a mix of slightly sour cherries with some Belgian yeast, coriander, and a bit of lemon. Through the middle, some funk comes through with a bit more sourness and some oak. The finish is a mix of sour cherries, funk, Belgian yeast, oak, and some booze.
M - Medium bodied with moderate-minus carbonation. Feels smooth with a dry, warming, and lightly sour finish.
D - Very drinkable. Good base Belgian Strong Ale with the oak aging and cherries adding some complexity. Nice overall balance. DoublEE (782) - South Euclid, Ohio, USA - AUG 9, 2012
For the price it was okay. Wanted/expected more but it happens sometimes. The barrel needs to come out more and be a bit thicker on the profile overall.

22 oz. bottle from Root Cellar. Release #3, 10.3% ABV. Pours a cloudy ruby color with a small but lasting eggshell-colored head with a minor pinkish tint. Aroma of sweet cherries, oak, funk, sweet and caramel malts, and boozy bread. The flavor mostly follows the same lines but the cherries are tart and not just sweet; oaky funk, vanilla, and caramel, too. Medium-bodied, with a sweet, funky mouthfeel and moderate carbonation. Pretty solid but I still give the edge to the straight Brainless.

Ruby red pour with a huge head that quickly fades. Enormous cherry aroma. Smells a little artificial but I know its not. A little belgian yeast aroma comes through too. Way too much cherries in the taste. Thats all you taste until you get a little belgian yeast at the finish. Seems way over carbonated too. Not a fan. Bomber, Batch #2. Poured peach-colored with a short-ish lived fizzy off-white head. The aroma picked up dusty cherries, white spices, and oak over bready notes and toasted banana.. some warmth on the back of the nose.. seemed a bit muddled. The flavor opened with tart oak and white winey notes, with bread and biscuity notes following.. just a kiss of cherry through there.. alcohol amplified the barrel presence on the finish, but there wasn’t much cherry back there.. candi sugar and banana came through right in the end, and the brew warmed up the belly. Medium-bodied with a bit too much carbonation on the palate.. too much barrel presence, and too little cherry.. overall OK, but I loved the Peach one. Bomber from Sam’s, Durham. Really exceptional appearance, a deep ruby with pinkish tints and a thick, creamy head that leaves rings around the tulip. Nose is initially surprisingly sweet, like cherry pie extract with bits of tart wood that bring out a riper fruit. Mouthfeel is quite full, smooth, and a bit acetic on the back end. But overall the flavors could be a bit more tart, as it tends to emphasize the oak and vanilla aspects perhaps a bit too much. Enjoyable nonetheless. robertjm (895) - Albany, California, USA - MAR 21, 2012
(trade w/adneilsen) Batch#3 - Three finger slightly pink head. Falls flat nearly immediately. Coudy pinkish body. Slight bandaidy aroma. Woody flavor. Cherries not as prevelent as the peach was in the Peach version. Bitterness on the palate in the aftertaste. Interesting to try, but not something I’d be clanmering to get again. Would have been better with something wild in there. falco242 (398) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - MAR 10, 2012
Very nice pour but little head on it. Cherry flavor is not very present, but it also does a good job of hiding the +10% alc too. Nice Belgian flavor but not the best in the Brainless series.
