Note: batch 5 and all subsequent batches are put into Red Wine Barrels (the batch number is printed on the label). All earlier batches were in White Wine Barrels and should not be rated here. Release 5 of Brainless on Cherries, has a new twist- we used Red Wine (cab and syrah) barrels for the second fermentation and aging as apposed to White Wine barrels. The result, dryer, lighter body, fruit shines thru and a bit of tannin and wood notes in the finish

Pours a hazy reddish amber color with a minimal head that dissipated within seconds. The aroma is cherries, wine, and oak. The flavor is more of the same.

22 ounce bottle poured into a brandy snifter. The beer is a clear red with a white head of foam that dissipates quickly. The aroma has dry woody notes and sweet artificial cherry notes. I get some decent robitussin notes. Sweet and boozy. Big body and medium carbonation.

FROTHINGSLOSH (7619) - GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 13, 2017
Sampled on draft at Tapped this beer poured a pinkish red color with a large foamy pink head that faded quickly and left no lacing. The aroma was sweetish and malty with artificial cherries. The flavor was tart and sour with cherry sno-cone, booze and artificial sugar. Long boozy finish. Moderately full bodied. Disappointing.

Bottle shared during the November THT tasting at deansos place. Pours a slightly hazy red with a small white head. Aroma is big on the caramel and sweet malts, obviously cherries as well. Some oak and wine notes in the flavor with more fruit and some slightly tart cherries. Wish is was more cherry forward with a heavier barrel influence as well. Medium body, low carbonation.

Sampled from bottle @ Benzais final THT although MrHangover thinks its something else. Clear amber color, no head. Smell and taste malts, slightly sourish, a hint of cherries indeed. Decent body and carbonation. Ok beer.

Rating #2107 - Bottle from CBI. Pours a light hazy pink colour, fairly thick white foam. Aroma and taste is sweet, cherry pie. Great belgian character as well, presence of yeast, wheat, coriander, mild clove, mild Syrah kinda vibe, mild tannic. ABV is surreally disproportionate to your perception, drinks as though it may be sessionable, I can assure you after punishing the bomber it is not. A crown jewel of fruit beers.

Bottle at the tapless taproom in SLC. Brilliant red color but minimal head. Aroma is a little weak, cherry with vinous notes. Medium sweet cherry and red wine flavor, slight spicy yeast. Medium bodied, not great carbonation. Meh.

August 27th, 2014 - Weve already had the Brainless on Peaches, so we move to the next zombie clarion call of sours, the Brainless on Cherries. This one sits much darker in the glass, more brown than amber, but not as dark as a porter, or even as a brown ale. Its a foxier brown, with a little more rouge. The head disappears quickly, leaving a thin fence of bubbles at the edge of the glass, which gives free flow and access to the aroma. There I find, expectedly, cherries, with a nice acidity and tartness, rather than a cherry pie or a cherry cordial. The palate is thinner than I remember on the Brainless with Peaches, and features a very low carbonation, which lets all of the fruit flavors tumble onto the tongue unfettered. The cherry notes here are watered, with just a bit of watering down. Like a whiskey, a drop or two of dilution lets the flavors breathe, and that seems to be the case here, as the dark cherry flavors deliver the fruitier parts of their past lives without sugary decadence or excess.

Draft at the Epic Brewing Denver Taproom. Poured a cherry red color with a off-white pink head. Aroma was sour cherries, red wine notes. Flavor was sweet/tart cherries. Like the white wine barrel, this one is very tart, and very tasty. Booze sneaks in.
