Bomber. Clear walnut brown and short ecru head. Insanely malty and "lagery" aroma, roasted nuts, hinting at grape and bubblegum. Rich, sweet, and chewy… flavors evoke breadcrust, mild coffee, and perhaps grilled meats. Herbal hop background. Full-bodied and luscious with just enough tingly carbonation. Amazing! superspak (5877) - Waterford, Michigan, USA - JAN 24, 2013
22 ounce bottle into tulip glass; Release #2, bottled 2/15/2012. Pours slightly hazy reddish brown color with a nice 2 finger dense cream colored head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice soapy lacing clings to the glass, with a good amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big caramel, toffee, toast, molasses, chocolate, raisin, nuttiness, biscuit, earth, leather, and light herbal. Damn nice aromas with big malt complexity and balance. Taste of big caramel, toffee, toast, molasses, chocolate, raisin, nuttiness, biscuit, leather, light roast, earth, and light herbal spiciness. Lingering notes of caramel, toffee, toast, molasses, biscuit, chocolate, nuttiness, raisin, light prune, earth, and herbal spiciness on the finish for a good bit. Fantastic malt complexity and balance; with almost zero cloying sweetness present after the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a very creamy and slick mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a slight warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a highly excellent doppelbock! Fantastic malt complexity and balance; and very smooth to sip on. A highly enjoyable offering; one of the better doppelbocks I have had. BOSSbrewer (2705) - Arkansas, USA - JUL 20, 2013
Release #10. 8.4 abv. Plums and raisins. Slight roast flavor. Reddish brown. Alcohol is prominent. Maybe too much so. But overall a nice, big beer.

Poured from a 22oz bottle into a Scotch Silly tulip glass. Pours amber brown with head and lace. Aroma of rich malts. Significant carbonation and mouthfeel. Flavors of roasty malts, caramel, molasses, straw hops. Overall rich, bold, sweet, flavorful. Ibrew2or3 (8808) - Tempe, Arizona, USA - JAN 4, 2013
Grabbed at Tops in Tempe. 22oz bomber pours clear deep copper with a tan looking head of foam. The aroma offers up sweet malts, caramel, dark fruity esters and a pleasing breadiness. The taste is surprisingly similar with sweet malts, some ripe red apple and apricot moving into caramel and a nice grounding sort of breadiness. This thing is just hitting the spot right now with its richness, complexity and balance. hayduke (5619) - Eureka, California, USA - DEC 2, 2013
This was release number 3, ABV 8.5% on the bottle. Shared with Strykzone on Facebook Chat. I pours a garnet color with a medium tan head. Light lacing. Nose is a blast of rich caramel malts, and some dark fruit. Actually lots of dark fruit. Earthy. Medium in body with a very clean smooth mouthfeel and hint of the alcohol. Wish there was no hint, but this IS 8.5% so I guess some is expected. The flavor is very rich, and the rich malts and ripe fruit is augmented by some floral hops. Chocolate appears as it warms. The finish is mostly on the sweet side and is almost chewy. Nuts finally appear as well. This is a simply delicious beer and the lager smoothness makes it very easy drinking. I am really enjoying this beer. kkleu357 (634) - Madison, Wisconsin, USA - MAR 20, 2014
Sweet malty aroma. Burnt dark red color. Nice sized head. Lots of toffee flavors with a malty finish. Very good. Best Doppelbock I can remember drinking. drewaha (129) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - JAN 4, 2013
On draft. Smells nutty. Taste is sweet and smoky. It is the lightest 9 abc beer that I have ever had. Dangerous and tasty.
