Bomber. Clear walnut brown and short ecru head. Insanely malty and "lagery" aroma, roasted nuts, hinting at grape and bubblegum. Rich, sweet, and chewy… flavors evoke breadcrust, mild coffee, and perhaps grilled meats. Herbal hop background. Full-bodied and luscious with just enough tingly carbonation. Amazing!

22 ounce bottle into tulip glass; Release #2, bottled 2/15/2012. Pours slightly hazy reddish brown color with a nice 2 finger dense cream colored head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice soapy lacing clings to the glass, with a good amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big caramel, toffee, toast, molasses, chocolate, raisin, nuttiness, biscuit, earth, leather, and light herbal. Damn nice aromas with big malt complexity and balance. Taste of big caramel, toffee, toast, molasses, chocolate, raisin, nuttiness, biscuit, leather, light roast, earth, and light herbal spiciness. Lingering notes of caramel, toffee, toast, molasses, biscuit, chocolate, nuttiness, raisin, light prune, earth, and herbal spiciness on the finish for a good bit. Fantastic malt complexity and balance; with almost zero cloying sweetness present after the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a very creamy and slick mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a slight warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a highly excellent doppelbock! Fantastic malt complexity and balance; and very smooth to sip on. A highly enjoyable offering; one of the better doppelbocks I have had.

Release #10. 8.4 abv. Plums and raisins. Slight roast flavor. Reddish brown. Alcohol is prominent. Maybe too much so. But overall a nice, big beer.

Poured from a 22oz bottle into a Scotch Silly tulip glass. Pours amber brown with head and lace. Aroma of rich malts. Significant carbonation and mouthfeel. Flavors of roasty malts, caramel, molasses, straw hops. Overall rich, bold, sweet, flavorful.

Grabbed at Tops in Tempe. 22oz bomber pours clear deep copper with a tan looking head of foam. The aroma offers up sweet malts, caramel, dark fruity esters and a pleasing breadiness. The taste is surprisingly similar with sweet malts, some ripe red apple and apricot moving into caramel and a nice grounding sort of breadiness. This thing is just hitting the spot right now with its richness, complexity and balance.
