[ Courtesy of my Secret Winter Santa ]. ABV: 9.5%. Clear medium orange yellow colour with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white to white head. Aroma is moderate malty, pale malt, leather - brett, light to moderate hoppy, flowers, grass - dry gras, elderflowers. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet, light acidic and light moderate bitter with a long duration, elderflowers, sweet malt, brett. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.

$11.99 at Olive Tree Market in OB many months ago, release #2. Uh-oh--poured slowly with no head, vigorously the last half of the pour with only a few big bubbles... For a brett-spiked beer? These are usually overcarbonated...pineapple brett and green apple in the nose, some leather funk. Flavor follows with the apple, but then I got a good amount of berry white wine and oak, lightly buttery--perhaps a chardonnay barrel? I suck at wine. Also a touch of leather. Touch of warming alcohol. Earthy dry finish, tartness peaked at a 3ish. only the slightest hint of carbonation pretty well flat, with a thinner body than I like. Bottle to glass. Pours a slightly hazy golden color with a thin off-white head. Aroma is dry, with acetic acid, brett, sour apple. Flavor is quite tart, also a bit dry, with hints of apple. Light in body with a lingering sour long into the finish. Not bad. Love the label.

22oz bottle - release #3 - pours a transparent gold with fluffy white head . Aromas of sour citrus , with some grassy barnyard funk . Taste is tart green apple skins , medium funk . Finishes pretty clean . Overall pretty tasty .

The ale really varies from release to release. Currently, drinking release #4 (about a 3.5) which is funky, fermented tropical fruit, and slightly astringent on the palate. Release #6 is far better I’d say easily over a 4.0 rating. The #6 is much more tart and more along the lines of a sour (a less aggressive petrus). Great aroma a little spicy with a very tart sour fruit taste and finish. Clear dark yellow beer, small big bubbled head, actually just some big bubbles floating on top, unstable, non adhesive. Aroma: very dirty, urine, infected stuff, sourish, overripe to rotten fruits. It doesn’t just smell weird, like the first time I had geuze, but it smells really horrible actually. MF: no carbon, medium body. Taste: sourish, bit lemony, fruity, bit sugary even, which is weird, soft bitterness. Aftertaste: lemon rind, bit nasty, bitter hops, lemony, sour touch. Maybe I’m spoiled because of all the good lambics we have here in Belgium, but hey, if you’re stealing our bugs, then don’t be surprised if we compare them to our own beers as well.
