2015/12/19 - Pours a dark brown cola colour with a thick, foamy, khaki head that slowly reduces as leaves moderate lacing. Aroma is coffee roast, dried chili peppers, milk chocolate, light figs and a hint of molasses. Taste is figs, dried chili peppers (without the spiciness), coffee roast and bitter cocoa. Dry and dusty. Mouthfeel is medium with smooth carbonation and a drying finish. Didn't taste any coconut and the pepper notes were unexpected, but overall a really nice stout. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

GregClow (3319) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - DEC 12, 2015
Bottle from the LCBO. Very dark body - verging on black - with a thin tan head. Strong aroma of freshly ground coffee with dark fruit and molasses notes behind. Coffee is still present in the flavour, but not quite as aggressively as in the aroma, with sweet dark fruit, caramel and cocoa notes coming to the fore. Medium-full body, slightly creamy on the palate. Slight heat in the finish, but not as strong as you might expect from an 8% beer. Very nice all around, really.

Bottle. Dusty aroma of grassy cinnamon roast coffee with jalapeno peppers. Almost opaque black under thin, light brown. Jalapeno pepper flavour (no spiciness) with chocolate and fairly dry roasty finish. Medium light body, medium carbonation, smooth.

750 ml bottle from LCBO. Pours a very dark brown colour with moderate-sized light tan head. Aroma is quite interesting with coconut, lots of coffee, caramel and dark fruit. Flavour is big on dark, roasty coffee with dark fruit, caramel and some subtle coconut. Oily mouthfeel. Fine carbonation. Nice.

750 ml bottle from LCBO. Lots of coffee but not too much, roasted malt and lingering fruitiness. No sign of the coconut but a very nice stout. Easy drinking for the style.

Pours black, small head. Nose shows coffee grounds, roasted malt, bready notes. Flavours include more coffee, slight roast and a subtle sweetness, likely derived from the figs.

2012 bottle. big notes of high quality coffee and fig, with underlying roasted malts. Flavor is semi sweet and fruity, with a hefty dose of coffee. Feel is better than expected at 8%, and the quality is evident all around.
