Coffee, Fig, Coconut Oatmeal Stout. While this sounds like it should be divine I didnt dig it for two reasons. One is that this is one of those stouts that is super dry and super super ashy, with very little sweetness or malt character to balance. The other is that it smells and tastes like burnt coffee. I couldnt get any fig, coconut or oatmeal character and didnt get very far before giving up on this incredibly astringent ashy beer.

2013 version. Harsh aroma. Stale burnt coffee and musty wardrobes. Palate and flavour is beautiful. Sweetness up front countered with a balanced coffee finish. The figs and coconut dont really feature.

Bottle. Pours a deep black colour with a fluffy beige head, aroma is roasted malt with hints of coffee, the taste is medium bitterness with the coffee coming through with a dry bitter finish.

Really well balanced beer. The creaminess of the stout with the subtle fig made it a great beer on Christmas day.

From bottle in Belgian ale glass. Pours black with tan head and aroma of coffee and roasted malt that continue through to the palate. Didnt pick up as much fig as I was expecting although Id aged this for 6 months.

LCBO limited edition. More fig than coffee. Not a year, but somewhat washed out flavour. OK stout.

750ml bottle from LCBO. 8% alc./vol. Pours and opaque dark brown colour with a small beige head. Aroma of roasted malts and coffee.Taste matches the aroma with notes of figs. Not as dry and bitter as the usual imperial stouts. The oats add a smooth and creamy texture to this stout. Recomended.

[8048-20160128] 750mL bottle. Coffee grains and burnt chocolate crusts aroma. Black cola body with a medium-lasting foamy tan head. Green pepper and roasted coffee wood flavour. Full body. Interesting. (7/3/7/4/16) 3.7

2016-01-28. Very dark brown black body modest tan head. 3+ Aroma is quite dry, moderate coffee roast. Muted green pepper touches. Light fig, maybe? Flavour is dry, earthy roast, notes of cocoa and dark fruit. Average bodied palate, good carbonation. 3+ Decent but not to my tastes. 6/3/6-7/3/14 Bottle shared by HogTownHarry.

750 ml bottle from Hawthorne Cellars. Pours black with medium tan head. Right out of the fridge it was all coffee. Definitely needed to let this one warm up a bit. After about 20 minutes on the counter it became a smooth, velvety oatmeal stout with the coffee and a nice sweetness. Definitely recommend. Make sure to let it warm a bit. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle from LCBO (Niagara Falls). 2015. Pours dark brown with small light tan head, scattered, uneven, leaving little lace. Theres loads of coffee in the aroma, but very little of anything else, even as its warmed quite a bit. Tastes pretty damn sweet with molasses and dark roast coffee. Not exactly getting the figs here. Theres a hint of aniseed in the finish, curiously. The mouthfeel is a bit grainy, the body mediumish (as in not heavy or viscous), carbonation pleasantly thin. Not as fancy as the description lead me to believe. It is pretty good though, I love how its not a +10% booze bomb coated in massive sweetness, the 8% is
