Draught at SBWF. Near black, small beige head. Tinny licorice aroma. Mid sweet with full body. Molasses, milk chocolate and tin dominates. Salty bitter finish. Too imperialized, with unwanted molasses-stickyness.

Mother Kelly’s. Keg. Almost opaque dark brown beer, small cream colour head. Palate is crispy and a little dry. Smooth dark malts with a fair bit of earthy coffee. Nice fruity back end - kinda caramel prune. Dry airy finish. Nice flavour medley but a bit dry.

Bottle 75 cl. Courtesy of bluebetty. Vintage 2011. Pours an opaque black with a light brown head. Heavy coffee aroma, somewhat ashy. Medium body, quite a roasty character with distinct coffee note. I don’t really pick up the Filipino coconut though! Roasty bitter finish. Neat alright but no biggie. 250113

Bottle from 16th Street Liquor, West Vancouver; vintage 2012
Black color, with small brownish head, just a few sparse large bubbles. Strong coffee smell, part quality coffee, part coffee drags, a bit pungent (it’s a quality), then followed by dark chocolate and pink pepper. The mouthfeel is weaker than expected, and rather dry; roasted malt flavor, coffee (not impressed here), ashes, and a slight peppery note.
Not cohesive at all, a bit dusty/ashy too; it’s rather expensive and not delivering enough in return; I should not have gotten this bottle.
