This tawny-orange ale immediately assults the senses with the character of hops from the Pacific Northwest. An aroma that combines grapefruit pith and pine resin foreshadows a strongly bitter beer. The flavor is spicy and juicy with citrus dominating over honey and floral notes, then giving way to a dry, chalky bitterness. The almost sweet finish is accentuated by the strength of the alcohol.

Release #25 - 1 of 1800 bottles Aroma - very orangy, tropical Appearance - Hazy golden pour. Taste - Very tropical. The taste follows the aroma almost exact. If this beer were to age too long, I don’t think I would like it as much, but this is pretty good. Palate - Huge mouth feel. Coats the entire tongue. Not a lot of bitterness, but solid. Overall - as long as it is fresh, I would seek this beer again.

Bottle @ home. Aroma is big hops and malt, fruity, piney and citrussy. Flavour is caramel malt, quickly overtaken by huge amounts of hops. Very nice.

Taster at the brewery. Pours a clear amber color. Aroma is piney hops, caramel. Taste is hoppy, pine, resinous, solid bitterness. Caramel sweetness brings a good balance. Palate is balanced, medium body, medium carbonation. Very good.

Bottle, release 36. Pours a lambent gold with a high, coarse-grained, off-white head. Nose is surprisingly subtle -- mostly floral (lavender) with herbal and lime notes. Massive bitterness up front with a very slight soapy overtone; prickly on the tongue, and the hops bitterness never really lets up. Some orange and toffee malt notes, but they’re hard to pick out. That soapy note mars the balance. Great mouthfeel. Good, but not great.

Release 37 (bottled mid April). Pours a hazy, dark gold going toward amber with a fair cream colored cap that settles pretty quickly to a thin ring with some larger bubbles, leaving plenty of spotty, soapy lace. Nose involves plenty of sweet toasted barley, some floral notes, light pine, tropical and stone fruit, some spice. Quite sweet, decently bitter. Full bodied, pretty oily, fair action, slippery, with a lengthy herbal bitter finish. As constituted, pretty good, drinking like a blonde barleywine. Not that it hasn’t held up well, because it has, but I just get the feeling that, at pushing 6 months old, this had to be more vibrant when it was younger.

A full bodied IPA with tons of dank hops in both the nose and in the mouth.

slowrunner77 (13171) - Reno, Nevada, USA - SEP 26, 2014
"release #14 - good stuff! dark dank aroma slightly reminiscent of Avery Maharaja. Full flavored and full bodied, thick and chewy, bittersweet citrus and pine. "

22 oz Bomber. Tasted on 9/23/14. Bottle from Total Wine Lewisville, TX. The beer has a strong pine & some citrus hop aroma. The flavor is also piney with a medium citrus to it. It also has a nice dry finish for a 9.8 ABV. Overall a very nice DIPA.
