This tawny-orange ale immediately assults the senses with the character of hops from the Pacific Northwest. An aroma that combines grapefruit pith and pine resin foreshadows a strongly bitter beer. The flavor is spicy and juicy with citrus dominating over honey and floral notes, then giving way to a dry, chalky bitterness. The almost sweet finish is accentuated by the strength of the alcohol.

Aroma of lots of pine, some grapefruit. Taste is grapefruit, piney, lots of caramel malt that leads into a nice finish of alcohol warming. A great DIPA!

22 oz. bottle. It ours a bright orange color with a dense white head. The aroma has oranges and pine with a little spice and florals. The flavor has more oranges with a touch of tropical fruit and a super piney bitter finish. Maltiness is subdued with maybe a touch of honey on the palate, although the mouthfeel is pretty full and oily. Very good stuff.

Bomber. Pours a golden/orange color. A good layer of white foam leaves some nice rings of lacing all the way down the glass. Aromas of grapefruit, tangerine, pine, and caramel malt. Taste is sweet caramel, pine, spice, and some citrus. Medium bodied with a fruity, resinous hop finish. Nice, even if a little sweet.

Bomber pours a golden straw with an abundance of white head and nice lacing. Aroma is subtle hops with pronounced corn and malt. Flavor and overall is disappointing for the ratings so far.

Release #33. Pours a medium ambery orange. Quite cloudy. The head is frothy and off-white. Lots of lacing and excellent retention. The aroma is big on tangerine, grapefruit, orange and pine hop notes. Theres a fairly strong caramel malt character, more sugar than Id like but its not too over the top. A little bubblegum-ish. The taste starts off with sugary malt flavor. Theres also a good amount of citric hop flavor. Relatively little bitterness, though the finish has a decent bite. Still too much sweetness. Fairly thick feel. Lasting aftertaste. A little more than booze than Id like but not too bad. Its a fairly sweet DIPA with too much of a bubblegum caramel flavor to it, but its still rather tasty. The hops are nice, if somewhat unexciting. The malt sweetness is good enough in and of itself, at least. Its just not how I prefer my DIPAs.

Draft - Big pine and a little sweet malt. Clear gold with a thin white head. Sweet malts, hops and a bit of booze. Strong and not up to par.

AWISLguy (2863) - Wisconsin, USA - FEB 17, 2014
Bomber from Woodmans in Waukesha. Pours a hazy pale orange with a white head leaving a lot of sticky strings of lace. Aroma has citrus (oranges, pineapple, lemons) and pine. Further down in the glass, some of the caramel aroma shows through. Taste is of sweet caramel, very spicy pine and a grapefruity/lemony mix. Some peppery tang kicks in through the glass. Strong components all. Medium bodied and sticky. Finishes with a lot of depth, and quite a bit of bitterness. Yet - again - some solid sweet caramel and some strong piney/peppery presence is there. Initially thought this was thin and did not have enough character to stay with the aroma, but the body really developed through the glass with a lot of nice pieces that took turns showing up strongly.

Bottle at Papago Brewing in AZ. I think the label looks cheap. Color of the beer looks great. The hop is way to astringent on my tongue. The bitterness is not balanced right. I had high hopes for this beer.

bubbleflubber (2207) - Swannanoa, North Carolina, USA - JAN 29, 2014
Pours a murky amber, with a fluffy white head that leaves thick lacing. The nose is sweet, malty with honey and floral notes. Flavors are of bold sweet malts, caramel, peppering piney bitters, light ABV to finish. The integration is almost perfect, and with a soft palate with light alcohol activity, it goes down the palate very well. Great Impy IPA!!
