I didn’t pay attention to which batch this was but the bottle is at least two years old. It has held up quite well. While not the greatest imperial stout or even average at least it is not a total drainpour. Maybe this is what happens when a brewery tries to expand too quickly too soon.
Aroma / Appearance - A reddish black base sits idly in the glass. Carbonated with a tannish head, the body contains a nice mixture of chocolate, coffee, and smoky plums. It is not very aggressive for an imperial stout but is in the ballpark.
Flavor / Palate - Chewy licorice, chocolate, and ash tickle the tongue. This does not feel thick at all. A hot peppery finish is warm and a bit distracting. The flaws may not be major but they are enough to take away from what could have been a more solid release. I may try some more Epic bottles when I find time but I am not in a hurry.
On tap @ Uber. Pours inky watery black with thin brown head. Aroma is dark roasty malt with chocolate and coffee notes. Taste is similar - smooth rich chocolatey malt, roasty and bitter on the finish. Not bad, but needs some barrel-aging! climberbob (458) - Virginia, USA - OCT 12, 2013
Bottle. Poured into snifter. Black. Thin tan head. Coffee, dark chocolate, toasted malt. Smooth mouthfeel. Can taste the alcohol. Good solid stout.

Very nice roasted aroma. Hints of coffee, licorice, and tobacco. The flavor itself is a bit more run of the mill, though good. brokensail (16609) - Dublin, California, USA - OCT 11, 2013
On tap @ Epic (Denver). Pours black in color with a tan head. Big roasted malt nose. Chocolate, coffee, and licorice. Some molasses, a bit of smoke, and ash. Flavor is kind of acidic, but mostly just bitter roasted malt and chocolate. Smoke, molasses, licorice, and a hint of ash. Mild sweetness. Not bad.

Draft sample at Epic Brewing taproom, Denver. Pours dark brown with a ring beige head. Aroma of roast, burnt malt, dark chocolate, licorice, coffee and caramel. Flavour is light heavy sweet and bitter. Full bodied with soft carbonation. MrHangover (4693) - Den Haag, NETHERLANDS - OCT 11, 2013
Tap @ the brewery tap room. Pours a pitch black with a small, creamy beige head on top. Aroma of coffee, booze, molasses and roast. Flavour is very bitter and well carbonated, with a sticky, sugary mouthfeel. Medium long finish, sweet and sticky. Very nice brew. MacBoost (1926) - Victor, New York, USA - OCT 7, 2013
Bomber thanks to @@ron! Pours a pretty thick black with a tan head. Aromas of anise, roast, chocolate, marshmallow. Taste is syrupy thick but not too sweet... some ash, tobacco. Roasty. Finishes with a slight alcohol heat. Decent. Steve_0 (3745) - Denver, Colorado, USA - OCT 4, 2013
On tap at the Denver location. Pour is pitch black with a frothy tan head and great lacing. Big roasty, malty, chocolatey, espresso, earthy, grassy, and caramelly aroma. Taste is light smoke, dark cocoa, coffee, earthy hops, dark fruits, roasted malt, brown sugar, and raisins with a light alcoholic burn on the finish. Syrupy mouthfeel with soft carbonation. Damn decent stout. DiarmaidBHK (5459) - Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, USA - SEP 29, 2013
Bottle from Utah Liquor Store. Pours black with a thin khaki head. Lots of licorice and hops on the nose. Lots of hoppiness underneath all that roasted malt. Finishes lingers a bit. Solid.
