Pours a rich, dark brown (not quite black as night) with a fleeting tan head. Big aroma that has a nice balance of hops citrus and malt toastiness. Smoky, malty taste with a nice hop back that all fades together into a bit of nuttiness. Overall very nicely balanced. superspak (5787) - Michigan, USA - JUL 23, 2012
22 ounce bottle into tulip glass; batch #2 bottled 3/1/2012, 6.8%. Pours hazy very dark reddish brown color with a nice 2 finger dense khaki head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Some nice soapy lacing clings to the glass. Aromas of caramel, toast, biscuit, chocolate, nuttiness, toffee, and molasses on the forefront; with grapefruit, orange, pine, herbal, floral, and grassy hops in the background. Very nice aromas with a great balance of maltiness with a nice amount of balanced hop aromas; very pleasant and enjoyable. Taste of caramel, toast, biscuit, molasses, chocolate, nuttiness, toffee, grapefruit, pine, herbal, floral, earth, and grassy hops. Good amount of spicy pine bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, toast, biscuit, nuttiness, toffee, citrus, pine, herbal, and earthy hops on the finish for a good bit. Fantastic malt balance with the hop flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance as well. Medium carbonation and body; with a very nice creamy and slightly sticky mouthfeel. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal alcohol warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is an outstanding hoppy brown ale! Great malty flavor balance with hop flavors; and very smooth to drink. Highly enjoyable stuff, I would easily get this again. DoublEE (782) - South Euclid, Ohio, USA - AUG 9, 2012
Very hop forward aroma of pungent pine, hop resin and grapefruit peel. Toasty malt aromas blend in with cocoa, kola nut and mocha tones. Finishes with a woody hop character. Very nice nose. Toasty malt hit the palate up front with bakers chocolate, cola and creamy mocha coffee with cream. Pine and woody hop flavor blends in with a great balancing bitterness that lingers throughout the aftertaste. Mouthfeel is slick and bready with a medium body and average carbonation. Good drinkability. Overall a wonderful example of what the American brown ale can be.

22oz. bomber of the Release #2. Dark brown pour with a light tan head. Curious aroma, starts with the typical malt but mixes in a dash of chocolate and a good bit of piney hops. I really like this beer, the flavor is a great mix of a solid caramel/chocolaty brown ale with a nice pine hoppy bite.

Growler filled at Angel’s Trumpet pours with a dark brown body supporting a nice looking quarter inch tall light mocha colored head of foam. The aroma offers up a mix of roasted malts and sweet malts. Behind those notes are thin rings of nuttiness, earthy malts and faint hops that seem somewhat pine like. The taste is straight up smooth and creamy on the palate with roasted malts and faintly burnt malts that give way to chocolate and then dark roasted coffee. Midway and on to the finish the malt roastiness surges forward while a pine hop note surfaces. Damn, this is rich and smooth and creamy seemingly like an Imperial Brown or something. Well done. This is not your typical boring Brown. mikedR (1561) - Gilbert, Arizona, USA - AUG 12, 2013
Nice, and with the hoppiness, an interesting twist. Apropos brown pour. The hoppiness is at the front end and the brown nuttiness at the back. Overall balanced. Good. B.

Brownn pour, light beige head. Nuts, chocolate, roasted malt, and some very light coffee notes in the nose. Flavor is up front malty with nuts and coffee hints...finishes with the perfect bitterness. Really nice stuff. iguanodon (154) - Bountiful, Utah, USA - JAN 26, 2013
Bomber, release #3, 7.25 ABV. Pours dark brown with a bit of red in the light. Thick light brown head that recedes leaving nice lacing. Aroma is grass and pine, a hint of molasses. Taste is bitter hops, pine, juniper. Nice sweetness in the finish to balance it out. I’m not a big fan of brown ales so this was a pleasant surprise, glad I tried it. Nutty aromas. Citrusy nutty flavors. Overall a very good brown ale with a good amount of hops.
