4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottles from Epic. The best beer they make, and that’s saying a lot. Pours a hazy amber color with a trim beige ring of foam. Smells and tastes predominantly of cane sugar, yeast, sweet malt, and toasted oak. Like a barley wine on the palate, but very drinkable for the ABV.
Bottle from Berkeley Bowl West. Pours copper with a transient beige head and a caramel and vanilla aroma. There is a sweet caramel malt flavor with a lot of woody smoke in the finish. bhensonb (15974) - Woodland, California, USA - DEC 18, 2017
Bomber shared by Marcus. Pours darkly copper with a transient beige head. Aroma is a tad smoky, with some phenolics and a lilttle wood. All rather mild, but the sum is substantial. Med + body. Flavor is smoky, has some darkish fruit, some wood, and again I think a bit of phenolics. And there’s malt all underneath. Interesting. Smoked flavours, bacon, savoury, dark malts. Hazy gold, tiny, creamy, off-white head. Medium sweet. More sweet, dark malts, savoury flavours, honey, soft carbonation, full bodied. Very nice Smoked, rich and intense. Keg at taproom, Denver. TBone (18561) - Pori, FINLAND - OCT 6, 2017
Bottle at SBWF. Deep red colour, small beige head. Aroma has caramel and bread. Medium-bodied. Toffee, fruits, fudge in the flavour. Vanilla and bourbon are there but cant trace smoke. Feels a bit old. higgsbison (275) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - SEP 21, 2017
Sorry, I had to upload these old ratings. They were for me, not for uploading. And also I need 75 characters, hence this sentence.

TEJA (3349) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - JUL 26, 2017
Bottle sampled at Oliver Twist, Stockholm.
Short light brown head. Clear dark red orange color. A smoke aroma that resembles dried beef jerky and a mild oak / vanilla aroma. Sweet taste with a touch of the oak barrel. A medium bitterness that almost balance the sweetness. The smoke is mild in the taste. Bottle size is a pint 6 oz that gets a little too much for one person. Medium drinkabillity but good as a night cap. BytesAndBrews (66) - - JAN 29, 2017
Medium brown pour with a cream colored head. Oakey aroma. Slightly tart with a nice aged oak flavor, almost no smokiness. nickd717 (4999) - San Francisco, California, USA - SEP 12, 2016
Bomber sample at the tapless taproom in SLC. Hazy chestnut brown color with minimal head. Aroma is great, oak, vanilla, leather, toffee, bourbon, overripe fruit, candy sugar. Flavor is sweet, hot, prunes, dates, oak, bourbon. Can feel the heat on the palate. Medium full body, lower carbonation. Solid offering. hershiser2 (3831) - Charlottesville, Virginia, USA - SEP 12, 2016
Bomber, Market Street Wine Shop Uptown, $11.99 Release #33, 9.6 abv.
Pours cloudy brown with no head. Well, not surprisingly, the aroma is smoked peat as well as oak. Also some overripe fruit. Taste is lightly sour fruit: banana, plum, lightly smoked peat, light oak, earth, alcohol. GarrettB (1694) - San Diego, California, USA - SEP 7, 2016
August 27th, 2014 - Epic Brewing’s Smoked & Oaked begins our line-up of heavy hitters and sluggers. Cloudy, muddy, and impenetrable, it looks intimidating, bulky, and stoic. But the smell is surprisingly mild, even hard to catch. And the flavor is gentle up front too, as if the beast comes tamed. It starts slow, and works up to an amazing flavor combining elements of smoke and scotch, cigar and pipe tobacco, and some spices. TO summarize from my notes: "ERMAHGERD", one of the best flavors ever, cutting itself off in the aftertaste with a final kick of bourbon. This is so good, in fact, that we return for more at the end of our tasters, gluttonous and selfish, like the parents from Spirited Away as they turn to pigs, noshing on a magical feast.
