Draught at Epic Brewing Denver Taproom, on April 6, 2014.AWISLguy (3184) - Wisconsin, USA - MAR 18, 2014
Clear brown color, white head. Sweet, malty scent. Malty, mineral taste. Fizzy mouthfeel, low bitterness.
750ml bottle from Sonoma Cellars. Pours a brownish orange with a malted milk head leaving streaks of lace. Aroma has smoke and light caramel and light roast with cocoa. Taste is of smoke and caramel, with some nuttiness, slightly watery. Light to medium bodied. Finishes lightly sweet, with salty meat smoke and without much length. Not annoying or bad, but little to recommend. Not sure of the style; more a smokey lager than anything with depth. BrewMstr (194) - Pleasant View, Utah, USA - FEB 14, 2014
Very nice chocolate, coffee, and malty taste with smokey after taste. Very drinkable and enjoyable. DMLINAZ (332) - Mesa, Arizona, USA - DEC 25, 2013
Good. Not as smoked as, say, Stone’s, but smokey nonetheless, mostly in the dry finish. Not much smoke in the aroma. Pours deep black with a puffy white head. After that dissipates it still leaves a Cappuccino-like ring. v8powered (157) - Las Vegas, Nevada, USA - DEC 16, 2013
Bottle 2013: pours dark brown with dark tan head. The flavor is not as smokey as expected. Nowhere near Stone or Alaskan. It is a mellow smoke. I like cherry wood but wouldn't have known if I didn't read the label. Light chocolate taste. Slight toffee aftertaste. Was good but not as good as I expected. Not as Epic as Epic usually is....

On tap @ Congregation Long Beach. Dark brown in color with a khaki head. Nose is moderately smokey with a fair amount of roasted malt and coffee. A bit soapy and peaty. Some earth and dark chocolate as well. Flavor is moderately bitter with just a light sweetness. Soap, peat, and quite a bit of smoke. Roasted malt, coffee, and dark chocolate. Light molasses. Pretty meh. NachlamSie (3507) - Denver, Colorado, USA - NOV 14, 2013
10 oz pour at the brewery. Pours fairly dark with ruby tints and a nice looking head. I like the aroma on this with notes of campfire and toffee. I am a fan of cherry wood smoke for sure. I could use more smoke in the nose and this carries over into the flavor big time. The palate is on the lighter side for the style and the flavor is sort of subdued as well. I prefer my smoked porters to have a hearty body and robust flavor to give the smoke qualities more oomph. It is still a great tasting beer with a decent amount of flavor to be a nice fall sipper. Needs more smoke and malt body to be in the conversation with something like Alaskan smoked porter. notalush (5883) - Lakewood, Colorado, USA - OCT 19, 2013
Tap at the Denver tap room - pours a dark ruby - a bit light-bodied for a smoked porter, but it has a fairly silky body to it - the cherrywood smoked malt adds a fairly deep smokiness, without the sharpness that can sometimes come in some smoked beers - some chocolate and roasted malt compliment the smoke - I would like it even smokier, but that’s just my love of rauchbiers talking. kermis (13874) - The Hague / Amsterdam, NETHERLANDS - OCT 11, 2013
Draft sample at Epic Brewing taproom, Denver. Pours dark brown with a medium beige head. Aroma of smoke, burnt malts, caramel, overripe dark fruits and candy. Flavour is over moderate sweet and bitter. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. MrHangover (4615) - Den Haag, NETHERLANDS - OCT 11, 2013
Tap @ the brewery tap room. Pours a dark brown, reddish beer with a medium sized, creamy beige head on top. Aroma of ashes, smoke and roasted malts. Flavour has a lot of tobacco smoke influences, backed up by a big malty sweetness. Medium short, sweet finish, light carbo. Nice brew.
