3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Release #17, bottled on 7/26/12. Poured into an Allagash chalice.
Pours a cloudy pale yellow with a bone-white frothy cap. Fair globs of lace cling to the glass. Sharp scent of spices - coriander, pepper, and a big wallop of apples. This is almost causing my nose to pucker a bit.
Carbonation level is moderate, definitely not as spritzy as many in this style tend to be. Not complaining about that at all. Nice mellow finish. There’s enough boldness in flavor to keep this one going. On first sip there’s a big smack of herbs and spices. Coriander, lemon pepper, cinnamon, yeast. A lot going on here. But there is a nice puckering tartness to this as well. With my experience as of late, I thought the apple would be downplayed, but it is far from that. Sour green apples, lemons, limes - all make this nice and tart. It’s not the most enjoyable or flavorful, but it is sour. As this warms this characteristic develops and opens up even more., but I’m presented with another characteristic I don’t care for - nail polish remover. Near the end, this is dang near difficult to finish. I think this one drinks better on the cold side, but that’s just me. Interesting beer.
Bottle. Hazy yellow-gold with an off-white head. Aroma of apples and cinnamon and funk. Tastes the same, but a little sweet. Dry and medium bodied. hackobock (4029) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - SEP 10, 2016

Clear pale golden with a small white head. Aroma is fruity, spicy and light malty with some green apple skins, pine, juniper, white pepper, grain and some floral notes. Taste is light sweet, spicy, fruity, light bitter and soft tartness. Finish slightly dry, some earthy herbal notes, juniper, white pepper, light apple tartness, some grain notes in the background. Light to medium bodied, soft carbonation,
Pours a clear straw yellow with a thin white ring. Faint tart / sour aroma. Lightly tart wheat taste with a dry finish. Hardly any sour apple flavor. Not very refreshing or enjoyable. dnstone (3418) - Las Vegas, Nevada, USA - JUN 27, 2016
Pours clear golden with no head. Sweet and sour aromas, like a jolly rancher. Light spiced ale with a green apple juiciness.

Aroma’s the best thing here with traditional saison characteristic and only a hint of the band aids to come. Flavor, on the other hand, isn’t so good. I can pick up the saison, but the apple corrupts it and creates the band aid- blech. Body is a touch on the thin side. Thankfully, the finish isn’t long. oldrtybastrd (5002) - Fort Walton Beach, Florida, USA - APR 12, 2016
Pours a golden amber color with big fluffy head. Aromas of fruit, grass, yeast, and some dusty notes. Starts spicy effervescent, then to some grassy funky highlights...nice brett finish. djd07 (14655) - Houston, Texas, USA - APR 4, 2016
Bottle. Pours a cloudy yellow with small white head. The aroma is strong apple skin, spice, yeast. Medium mouth, funky, grain, light apple flavor, lingering dry finish, very good.

Enjoyed with brother Bryan. poured from a bomber. Taste of a classic Saison Farmhouse ale with cereal and sour fuji apple. Smell of sweet sour apple candy. Nice rich yellow color partially cloudy with white frothy head that lingers. 9.0bry 9.35bd Funkatrocious (119) - - JAN 27, 2016
Pour from bottle. Light yellow with medium head. Sweet and bitter. Tastes like a dirty apple rind. Not into it.
