A wheat beer from the good old days.
Erdinger Weissbier ’dark’ is a rich and smooth wheat beer specialty from Erdinger Weissbräu. It owes its full-bodied flavor to the fine hops and dark malt used in its production.
The dark beer specialty is brewed according to an age-old recipe. Its spicy flavor also results from the increased proportion (about 13%) of original wort. Nonetheless, at 5.3%, it doesn’t contain much more alcohol than Erdinger Weissbier ’with fine yeast’.

0,5 l bottle. Pours hazy light brown with lasting huge tan head. Aroma is bread, yeast and banana, some caramel and a bit of roasty malt. some herbal hop too. Taste is light sweet, almost no bitterness. Body is light, texture watery with lively carbonation. Finish is sweet. Easily drinkable, but without proper character.

a bottle from Welcome supermarket near Jing Xing road, Wen Shan district, up the road from me - drunk at home. Aroma: some grassy notes from the hops, overlaid with bread. Appearance: generous tan head, clear, dark brown body. Palate: medium-bodied, creamy, soft carbonation, sweet at the finish. Taste: watery, not over-pleasant hint of Marmite. Taste is not at all complex, but does remain in the mouth for a while. I wanted to rate this one because it is so widely available around here. Nothing special, drinkable though.

Poured from a chilled bottle. Colour is dark brown, nearly opaque. Big, long lasting tan head. Aroma is of faint chocolate and coffee. Moderate body. Taste is sweet with slight tang on finish. Fairly malty with heavy chocolate tones. No noticeable hops. All in all, better than budweiser but not very well balanced.

I bought this beer in the drink of the world, in Bern and I drank it at home after a good lasagne. There is a nice brown color, thin foam, average carbonation. The biggest critic is this side really watery. There is one part with roasted malt, smocked, wheat, some hop but there is something missing to this beer to be great.

Bottle, 0.5l. Pours hazy muddy brown reddish body with two finger off-white head. Disappointing head retention, completely gone under a minute. Smell is a bit strange, has more ESB character rather then dunkel weizen. Body is thin with watery texture. Carbonation a bit too agressive. Overall palate is quite watery. Lightly bitter taste. Aroma is not what I’d expect out of a dunkel. Malts, yeast, slight caramel, a bit peppery. Grassy with wooden notes. Very weak wheat character. Dry finish. Overall, not sure what to think of this. A bit off-mark style wise, but not a bad beer. Not great either, tho.

Dark brown pour. Medium mouth, some creaminess. Tastes strongly of prunes and cola. Some dark malts, but little wheat. A little caramel and yeast.

Bottle @Home (Ryder Cup Day 1 2016 tasting). Pours brown with a tan head, cloudy. Nose is malty, slight coffee, slightly fruity, lemons? Taste is malty, caramel, sweetish finish.
