A wheat beer from the good old days.
Erdinger Weissbier ’dark’ is a rich and smooth wheat beer specialty from Erdinger Weissbräu. It owes its full-bodied flavor to the fine hops and dark malt used in its production.
The dark beer specialty is brewed according to an age-old recipe. Its spicy flavor also results from the increased proportion (about 13%) of original wort. Nonetheless, at 5.3%, it doesn’t contain much more alcohol than Erdinger Weissbier ’with fine yeast’.

500 ml. bottle. Dark almost opaque colour, with a average head that does not hold for too long. Smell is wonderful: prunes, dark fruits, toffee, peaches and hints of chocolate. Average body, taste is almost the same as smell, maybe with some roasted grain notes. It was the new 5.3% version.

UPDATED: JUL 24, 2017 From 50 cl. bottle. Brown colour with big beige foamy head I’m a little disappointed it’s very mild a bit watery differently not what I expected but the flavour have some roasted notes, wheat, sweet malt, soft bitterness dry finish  all in all a thin mouth-filling 😯

Bottle @ home, dark brown colour, beige foam. Caramel, light roastiness, dark malts. Taste is light sweet, bit bitter. Easy drinkable. Dunkelweizen? Reminds me more as a Dunkel.

Dark brown with a thin white head. Roasted malt, chocolate and malty aroma. Taste of caramel, chocolate and malt.

Family Mart in Taipei City. Very clean and easy to drink. Pleasant malty aroma. Splendid dark coloring and light, fleeting head. Taste is light malts with a mild toffee with some dark fruits. Not your typical Dunkel. It is sweet, clean and light. Mild, yet very enjoyable. Such a good balance of flavours in this one. Great for sessioning.

Dark brown with beige head. Some dark malty aroma. Flavour is slightly sweet, with a dark chocolate flavour lingering in the background. Slightly dry finish. Highly carbonated with a light mouthfeel.

A great Dunkle Weißbier. Smooth and malty with all the refreshing characteristics of a German hefe Weizen. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bit sharp, some fruits ( mild citrussy, but not as sharp or fresh as the usual american varieties ) bit of pale malts. mild stale-ness, but not bad just yet. Taste is surprisingly bitter, with a very lively carbonation. Assertive maltyness ( doughy, bit creamy ) bit of unfreshness.

50cl bottle. Cloudy dark brown with a large thick beige head. Aroma: malty, sweet dried fruits, light roast. Taste: sweet malts, dried fruit, banana, bready, hint of spice. Medium body, smooth creamy mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Lighter than I expected.
