Ingredients: Water; wheat malt; barley malt; roasted malt; hops; yeast.
Name changed from Erdinger Weissbier Dunkel to Erdinger Dunkel, and abv changed from 5.6% to 5.3% by 2012.
A wheat beer from the good old days.
Erdinger Weissbier ’dark’ is a rich and smooth wheat beer specialty from Erdinger Weissbräu. It owes its full-bodied flavor to the fine hops and dark malt used in its production.
The dark beer specialty is brewed according to an age-old recipe. Its spicy flavor also results from the increased proportion (about 13%) of original wort. Nonetheless, at 5.3%, it doesn’t contain much more alcohol than Erdinger Weissbier ’with fine yeast’.

Dark apperance. Nice head. Easy to drink, soft, perhaps hint of sweetness. This one was better a bit better than the last fre others I’ve tasted and all of them were bought at the same time from the same place. Perhaps the moon is now in different position or there is some variance in storaga temperature.

50 cl. bottle. Dark brown with beige head. Aroma is roasty bread, caramel, coffee, toffee, along with floral and spicy notes. Taste is not very rich. Quite sweet and malty with minimal bitterness and some sourness. It is medium bodied and creamy textured, but it still is quite watery probably because of the lack of taste. Lively carbonation and a short bittersweet and somewhat sour finish. Not special but not bad. Decent.

500ml Bottle: Pours a dark brown with thin tan head that does not linger. Aroma of caramel and dark fruits. Nice toffee and caramel flavours from the malt but not much from the yeast, unfortunately. Highly carbonated with medium light body. Overall a bit lacking in Weiss flavours. Disappointing.

Bottle. Deep brownish with beige head. The aroma has notes of milk chocolate, wheat, caramel and toffee. Sweet and sourish flavor with notes of wheat, caramel, toffee, milk chocolate, some roastiness and some graininess. Medium to full-bodied.

Aroma: Gjær, banan, nellik. Krydret karakter. Mørk brun farge. Tåkete. Solid offwhite skum. Lite bitterhet.

Tap. Aroma mildly malted hints of toffee. Pours chestnut brown with tan top. Taste has only a subdued wheat flavour with malts predominant and a gentle finish although I found mine carbonated too much.
