ERDINGER Urweisse – in good old Bavarian tradition
A cause for celebration among weissbier fans!
A particularly strong, spicy aroma, a distinctive yeast flavor and an unmistakable top-fermenting beer profile - these are the characteristics of ERDINGER’s new family member in good old Bavarian tradition. The recipe for Urweisse dates back to the brewery’s founding days over 120 years ago. It owes its distinctive, traditional weissbier flavor to a special malt, a different hop variety and a special yeast.
And as appearance is just as important, Urweisse has been given its own special look - which will especially please all friends of the "good old Bavarian tradition". The label features the historic "Beautiful Tower" of Erding. The Euro bottle and original glass awake memories of days gone by. The new crate is also particularly eye-catching with its historic wooden look and "scorched" lettering.
Best is to simply taste it for yourself! ERDINGER Urweisse is available in Bavaria from January 1, 2008 and from February 1 in Baden-Württemberg. Presentation cartons are available in the ERDINGER Fan Shop from January onward.

On draught at L’Osteria while out with a couple of colleagues. I think “good old Bavarian tradition” isn’t necessarily a good thing here. The pour is a clear-ish golden orange with a thick white, meringue head and a good bit of lengthy soapy lace as it falls down. This is pretty interesting looking. Made the mistake of ordering this before I saw it was a hefeweizen. The aroma is full of banana, clove, yeasty metallic, wheat, grains, and just everything I don’t like about these beers. The flavor is much of the same. The heavy clove is really the first thing that I just don’t like. The banana and the yeast is something in the background that sucks, but the yeasty metallic on the finish really delivers a terrible taste. The mouth feel is light and brightly carbonated with a near-syrup like sweetness and the banana and clove just dominate the aftertaste. Ugh. No.

Drinked in bottle. At the nose some metallic notes, pear, fresh grass and hints of young banana. In mouth is light bodied, personally could be more drinkable if wouldnt be so carbonated. In mouth the most intense flavour is yeast and some mature banana

Viel Kohlensäure enthalten, dass macht es nicht so süffig. Aber Geschmack ist gut.

Bottle. Dark orange to amber, hazy with nice, frothy and pretty solid white head and good lacing. Pleasant, classic for style, aromas of cloves with hints of bananas on yeasty background. Taste is little bit disappointing, light body, almost watery with bready, malty and yeasty flavors and little bit spicy finish and faint aftertaste.

I like this a lot. More orange than amber, with a thick white head. Medium body, wheaty, and nicely carbonated. Aroma is yeasty; peppery spice, banana plus some orange, presumably from the hops. Taste also has bready malt.

All the wheatbeer lovers have to try it! Tipic wheat taste. Nice honeylike coluor.

Butelka 0,5L w firmowym szkle. Piękna drobnopęcherzykowa biała piana, dosyć mętne, aromat bananów, w smaku gładkie i przyjemnie na języku, goryczka niska, nagazowanie przyjemnie wysokie. Przyzwoita pszenica.

Pours hazy orange with a foamy off-white head. Malty and fruity aroma with a hint of clove. Taste is malty with banana and other fruits. Crispy spicy flavours strengthes towards finish. Smooth mouthfeel. LIvely carbonation. A great example of tasty hefeweizen. (0,5 l bottle, bb 12-2017)
