ERDINGER Urweisse – in good old Bavarian tradition
A cause for celebration among weissbier fans!
A particularly strong, spicy aroma, a distinctive yeast flavor and an unmistakable top-fermenting beer profile - these are the characteristics of ERDINGER’s new family member in good old Bavarian tradition. The recipe for Urweisse dates back to the brewery’s founding days over 120 years ago. It owes its distinctive, traditional weissbier flavor to a special malt, a different hop variety and a special yeast.
And as appearance is just as important, Urweisse has been given its own special look - which will especially please all friends of the "good old Bavarian tradition". The label features the historic "Beautiful Tower" of Erding. The Euro bottle and original glass awake memories of days gone by. The new crate is also particularly eye-catching with its historic wooden look and "scorched" lettering.
Best is to simply taste it for yourself! ERDINGER Urweisse is available in Bavaria from January 1, 2008 and from February 1 in Baden-Württemberg. Presentation cartons are available in the ERDINGER Fan Shop from January onward.

Golden brown beer with a white head. Strong ripe banana on the nose. Crispy yet foamy mouth feel in a watery body. Banana notes in the taste but finishes bland.

I found the aroma pleasant with yeast and clove nuances. Flavor was dry, but had a good balance between malt and hops. Perhaps a little too much carbonation (was bottled). Overall very enjoyable and a great Bavarian wheat beer.

(Keg at William K Kurvi, 20140502) The beer poured orange and cloudy. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had clove, fruitiness, banana and malts. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were clove, banana, fruitiness, grass, tartness, malts and bitterness. Aftertaste was fruity and bitter. A nice fruity Hefeweizen but its afteraste was too short and watery.

Golden and hazy, nice head, almost beige, very dense. Aroma and taste is sweet, some caramel notes, low bitterness, pepper, cloves, banana, little citric, a mature wheat and bread.body is medium to thick, enough carbonation and a very long and sweet aftertaste. One of my favorite hefeweizen beers!

Fruchtiger Geschmack, Weizenmalz, Erdbeere, Apfelsinen, Dunkelbananen, Nelken, Koriander. Thin-mittlerer Körper, normal Kohlensäure. Nicht der lang anhaltenden Schluß, weißes süßes Brot, Zitronengras, schwache Banane. Off white tall head, slightly hazy amber golden body. Wheat malts, ripe banana and very modest grassy hops to the nose. Fruity taste, wheat malts, strawberry, oranges, dark banana, cloves, coriander. Thin-medium body, normal carb. Not longlasting finish, white sweet bread, lemongrass, faint banana. - Braune 50cl Flasche abv4.9% BBf10-2014 @Vinmonopolet Langnes Tromsø gekauft.

UPDATED: MAY 29, 2015 This is one beautiful looking beer. Aroma is wheat, banana, bready yeast, touch of spices. Flavour is moderate banana sweetness. A really fine Hefe, better than the standard Erdinger.
