ERDINGER Urweisse – in good old Bavarian tradition
A cause for celebration among weissbier fans!
A particularly strong, spicy aroma, a distinctive yeast flavor and an unmistakable top-fermenting beer profile - these are the characteristics of ERDINGER’s new family member in good old Bavarian tradition. The recipe for Urweisse dates back to the brewery’s founding days over 120 years ago. It owes its distinctive, traditional weissbier flavor to a special malt, a different hop variety and a special yeast.
And as appearance is just as important, Urweisse has been given its own special look - which will especially please all friends of the "good old Bavarian tradition". The label features the historic "Beautiful Tower" of Erding. The Euro bottle and original glass awake memories of days gone by. The new crate is also particularly eye-catching with its historic wooden look and "scorched" lettering.
Best is to simply taste it for yourself! ERDINGER Urweisse is available in Bavaria from January 1, 2008 and from February 1 in Baden-Württemberg. Presentation cartons are available in the ERDINGER Fan Shop from January onward.

Pours hazy orange with a foamy off-white head. Malty and fruity aroma with a hint of clove. Taste is malty with banana and other fruits. Crispy spicy flavours strengthes towards finish. Smooth mouthfeel. LIvely carbonation. A great example of tasty hefeweizen. (0,5 l bottle, bb 12-2017)

Hazy orange color. High carbonation. Aroma of clove, a little bit of banana, some malty undertones. Bright flavor, a bit of malt, just a bit of tartness. Nice clove under it all. Not so much banana, which suits this well actually. Really crisp and easy drinking hefeweissen. Not the most complex, but tasty.

Lett tåkete gylden brun med fingerhøyt hvitt skum. Lukter hvete, gjær og noe banan. Som forventet av en hefeweisse. Hvete, gjær og noe søtlig bananaktig. Kort.

0.5L bottle. Pours a cloudy orange colour with a huge off-white head that settles down after a while, no lacing but good retention. Aroma is bready, yeast, wheat banana. Sweet taste, bready malt, wheat, yeast, banana and lemon, some spiciness. Light-medium body and carbonation, watery-oily texture. Good. Better than their normal Weissbier I think.

Hazy orange body with a large white head that settles fairly quickly. Nose with low banana and moderate clove notes. Mildly sweet taste with smooth bitterness and low tartness. Soft carbonation and medium mouthfeel. Quite nice wheat with good flavor and drinkability. Could use a bit more yeast aroma.

Bottle at Beyond The Pale, Leek. Pours a cloudy orange colour with a thick off white head. Aroma of banana, clove, wheat, some bready malts, slight orange, a little oats, a hint of vanilla and subtle yeast. Taste is similar of banana, clove, wheat, some bready malts, slight oats, a little vanilla, a hint of orange and subtle yeast. Light bodied and moderate carbonation. A dry, wheaty, slightly citrusy bitterness in the finish. A simple urweisse but so well made. Erdinger are known for beers like this, traditional styles done well. Better than their weissbier.

UPDATED: MAY 9, 2017 500 ml served in Weizenbier glass. Cloudy orange colour with foamy lasting white head. Cabbage, yeast, grain, citrus and grapefruit. Bitter for Weißbier, but still far away from being too bitter. Slight sour-fruity hint. Soft carbonation, medium body. Texture is oily. Better than the original Erdinger Weißbier. Very nice!

Slightly obfuscated golden with an orange hue, two finger beige head. Nose yeast / bread, notes of banana and in the very background hint orange. In the mouth it's nicely carbonated medium fluffy feel. Palate is slightly sweet with yeast upfront and followed by a fairly short lived fruitiness. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Cloudy orange with a huge persistent head. Aroma is of fruity esters, clove and oranges. Seeetish, fruity, spicy, overripe banana and orange juice notes, sourish dry finish. Medium bodied, smooth and fizzy. Quite nice.
