ERDINGER Urweisse – in good old Bavarian tradition
A cause for celebration among weissbier fans!
A particularly strong, spicy aroma, a distinctive yeast flavor and an unmistakable top-fermenting beer profile - these are the characteristics of ERDINGER’s new family member in good old Bavarian tradition. The recipe for Urweisse dates back to the brewery’s founding days over 120 years ago. It owes its distinctive, traditional weissbier flavor to a special malt, a different hop variety and a special yeast.
And as appearance is just as important, Urweisse has been given its own special look - which will especially please all friends of the "good old Bavarian tradition". The label features the historic "Beautiful Tower" of Erding. The Euro bottle and original glass awake memories of days gone by. The new crate is also particularly eye-catching with its historic wooden look and "scorched" lettering.
Best is to simply taste it for yourself! ERDINGER Urweisse is available in Bavaria from January 1, 2008 and from February 1 in Baden-Württemberg. Presentation cartons are available in the ERDINGER Fan Shop from January onward.

0,5 liter bottle. It was quite nice! Much, much better than the regular weizenbeer from Erdinger.

Tap at a Restaurant in Krün. Pours dark orange . Nose is banana, floral, citrus. Palate is a bit sweet, banana, citrus. Short sweet finish. Good, but not great, Weizen.

Enorm veel schuim als je het uitschenkt. De kleur typisch witbier. De geur lekker fruitig. De smaak valt mee, niet echt uitgesproken.

UPDATED: DEC 11, 2016 0,5 l Flasche. Aroma: Hefig, bananig. Erscheinung: oranges bis braunes, trübes Bier, cremeweißer, reichhaltiger, feinporiger, recht stabiler Schaum, akzeptable Gardine. Geschmack: süßlich, leicht bananig. Nachgeschmack: vollmundig, weich. Gesamt: so sollte das normale Erdinger schmecken.

Aroma of bananas, bread (a bit toasty), a note of cloves A bit too sweet Pretty good all in all, but there are better wheat beers

50 cl. bottle. Hazy golden/orange with frothy white head. Its quite strong aroma consists of banana, yeast, wheat, along with some spices and citrus. Taste is medium sweet and a bit sour; almost no bitterness, but still a bit spicyness. It has a quite light body, somewhat creamy texture, lively carbonation, and a pleasant semi-dry slightly sour finish. At the end, it is possible to perceive some bitterness. None of the beers by Erdinger is top-tier I think, however they are still enjoyable. This rule does not change with Urweisse.

Bottle. Hazy copper with beige frothy beige head. The aroma has notes of wheat, yeasts, banana, clove, soap and bubblegum. Sweetish and sourish flavor with notes of wheat, yeasts, banana, citrus (orange) and some spiciness. Light to medium-bodied. Nice.

500ml Bottle: Pours a cloudy amber with frothy, persistent white head and lacing. Aroma of caramel, stone fruit with some bready notes. Fruity flavour with medium bitterness. Definite caramel notes with some spiciness. Finished sweetish. Medium bodied with medium carbonation. Almost Bock-like in flavour. Overall an interesting weiss that was really nice to drink.
