500ml brown bottle. Poured into an Erdinger Weissbier glass. Hazy golden colour. Nice frothy white cap that sticks around a long time. Nose has hay and straw notes. Taste has notes of hay and straw with grass and a little sweetness. A little bitterness. Gentle carbonation. Pretty good alcohol free hefe.

"Isotonisch, vitaminehaltig, kalorienreduziert" - a clever way of upgrading a (near to) non-alcoholic beer to a health drink... Very thick, foamy but regularly shaped, off-white, tightly lacing head remaining completely closed, atop a pure, warm ’old gold’ coloured beer, practically clear initially but turning lightly and equally hazy with sediment. Aroma of raw green cereals and raw green cabbage, soaking wet cardboard, damp old cloth, dusty old chicken food, very old dry hay, soap, old medicine (some kind of pills that have been lingering in your closet for years), plastic - anything but inviting. Initially neutral, minerally onset, quickly acquiring a sourish graininess and some thin wheat soapiness, but the iconic banana ester that usually typifies anything Weizen-like, lacks completely - in fact, this tastes just like a bland alcohol-free pale lager with wheat added, which is basically what it is. Carbonation - artificially added of course - is on the softish side. Mouthfeel is extremely soapy, likely an attempt to evoke a Hefeweizen-like effect, but in this case it becomes all plastic-like and glueish and utterly unpleasant. Pale, ’raw’, sourish and vaguely sweetish (in fact corn-like) graininess and thinned out wheatiness around it make up the core of this ’beer’ and show the way to a finish where some welcome, ’deep’ bitterness is established, though feeling a bit harsh and chemical as well - I doubt if this bitterness comes from hops alone. Unpleasant ’green’ graininess and soapiness linger. I bought this just for the tick, but I had a couple of non-alcoholic German Weissbiere before and those were, all things considered, still drinkable; this one, however, is utterly unpleasant, harsh, chemical, very grainy in a crude and ’bare’ kind of way and extremely soapy. Apart from looks, I can find no redeeming features here. Has nothing to do with Hefeweizen. Enough said, swiftly on to the next.

Flaske. På toppen af Galzig i Skt Anton. Dette gør øllen bedre. Meget flotakumkrone på en pilsnerfarvet øl. Duft af let ris, frisk og god mundfylde

Bottle. Pours cloudy pale with big foamy white head. Aroma of malts, grain, touch of wheat, light fruity. Taste is moderate sweet, fruity mouthfeel. Light body, slickt texture, lively carbonation.

Bottle. Pours slightly cloudy yellow with a big stable foam. Very little yeast residuals. Aroma is mostly wheat malt, starch. Body is light, but also not thin, nice sweetness supporting the crisp carbonation. Palate continues the mouthfeel, quite smooth took. Very well as a refreshing drink for a break while skiing.

0.5l can. Malty and typical alc.free beer aroma. Hazy yellow color, white head. Malty taste with strong alc.free beer notes, soft sour. Light body, watery texture, soft carbonation and sour finish. Average.

Bottle from Sainsburys. Pours clear gold with a white frothy head. Very gentle malt aroma with candy floss. Tastes of fairground toffee apples with very slight bitter malts. It’s very light with lots of sparkle. It reminds me more of a shandy than a beer but does offer top levels of refreshment.

Very excited about this one. Cripsp, fine hop finish. Tastes very much like a spaten lager to me.

0.5l can. Clear amber with some white head, lot’s of lacing. Faint wheat taste with hint of banana. Good enough for alcohol free.
