The Premium Weissbier at the top of its class. Not only in the context of the Erdinger assortment Erdinger Weissbier with fine yeast applies undisputed as the classical authors, as the white beer absolutely. It is brewed with fine yeast after a delivered prescription and naturally strictly after the Bavarian purity requirement. Today still without the traditional bottle fermentation one does not do here: Three to four weeks it lasts, until the Erdinger Weissbier with fine yeast matured. For the production only finest raw materials are used. Experience of many years and constant quality controls guarantee beyond that the unmistakable taste. A Weissbier for all, those the unforgettable good taste love.

Reviewed 3/6/13. 11.2 oz bottle poured into a weizen glass. A: Pours a cloudy dark gold color. The head is a three finger white shade with that has a foamy appearance to it. Retention is really nice, too. S: Not only are the typical banana/clove estery aromas lacking here...so is just about anything else. About the only thing I really notice is a mild cherry-like sweetness and the faintest hint of wheat. Not really a bad aroma - after all, how can a nose so weak be considered bad? T: Well, the aroma suggested a feeble flavor, and that’s what I got. While the lack of weizen esters allows the opening wheat quality and finishing noble hops to shine through more strongly, it really drinks like a dinky-ass US wheat ale (think Widmer Hefeweizen) than a proper German hefeweizen. Okay, so a slight banana presence builds up after a few sips, but by then it’s too little, too late. Just a boring beer in all flavor aspects. M: The texture does a good job of staying out the way of the lack of flavor by finishing with a mildly clean dryness to it. I could do without the budding wet, syrupy linger, but I’ll certainly give it points for being refreshing and crisp. O: A score this low would suggest a mediocre-to-poor effort riddled with flaws - however this isn’t actually flawed, just devoid of any good weizen characteristics...or any characteristics for that matter. This one is certainly easy to down, at least. But when both Sierra Nevada and Weihenstephaner make weizens that are both superbly drinkable AND full of character, why should you care about this one?

500 ml bottle served in Weizenbier glass. Pours pale yellow-orange with Weißbier-typical foam head. Aroma not very complex, a bit wheat, yeast, grain. Taste is quite neutral and boring, yeasty and a bit sweet. Soft carbonated. Another average Weißbier.

Aroma: mild banana. Sour banana-like fruitiness, clove and minerals. Also something very faintly cheese-like. Good but not really my pint of beer.

Bevuta in bottiglia.

Hazy golden beer with small white head. Aroma is wheat and banana. Taste is malty and little wheat as well. Light body, little bit watery, which ruined the taste a little bit. Otherwise descent smooth drinkable beer.

Plenty of malt/honey aroma that feels a bit out-of-place in hefeweizen; worryingly there isnt much beyond that other than a little wheat. Pours cloudy straw/yellow with large snowy head. In flavor similarly quite a lot of malt and grain, but there are regular hefeweizen qualities of yeast, cloves and wheat as well, though theyre rather muted. A bit watery. While it isnt a god-tier hefeweizen, its also definitely not something I regret drinking.
