i needed to tame my initial impression of this fruity sour brew with some thought about my experiences with these types of beers and the challenges that the brewer has inventing them. after a few sips i began to enjoy the genuine black cherry sour and slightly sweet taste with the yeasty and lively light malt finish in a moderate body that cleans everything up and makes you ready for another sip. for what i can tell this is a successful beer especially for the summer... enjoy one ! Kind of grayish white head of fine bubbles that recede rather quickly. A decent black cherry aroma with some grape juice and some light malts. Color is a brown with a slight reddish hue. Decent carbonation. Kind of sickly sweet aroma with some more black cherry, grape and grainy malts. Maybe some creamed corn in there also. I ambig fan of black cherry but this just seems a bit synthetic to me. fluffy (2461) - St Petersburg, Florida, USA - AUG 15, 2010
more of a soda than a beer, like one of those lightly flavored seltzer waters. sadly, other than the cherries and sweetness, there is nothing about this that says "beer" to me. would be nice if they had given it a little bit of a beer profile with say, oh i dont know, hops and malt? even the sam adams cherry wheat is more interesting than this. good beer to bring to a party for people who dont like beer though, like a watery lambic. oh well. still perfectly refreshing all the same. just not beer. Bottle at the Nook. Pours copper with a small, beige head. The aroma is distinctly black cherries, with notes of brown sugar, and saaz hops. The flavor is acidic sweetness, and mild bitterness. The palate is medium, crisp and clean. Overall, this is a surprisingly delicious fruity cream ale, with distinct fruit aroma without the typical cough syrup flavor. Well done. obxdude10 (2374) - Pottstown, Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 4, 2009
This beer tasted more like a B&J wine cooler than a beer. This offering from Erie was way too sweet and fruity for my palate, and several others, accorinding to a small sample of other experienced beer drinkers at the Craft Ale House on this afternoon. This beer poured a nice dark golden color with a generous off-white head with good lacing. The aroma was semi-inviting with notes of sweet malt and fruits. But the body was way too sweet and the cherries stood out a little too much for my liking.

Dark fruit flavor of cherry with a bit of malt. Not too sweet, but a bit tart. Aftertaste is meh. Darkmagus82 (2303) - - JUL 20, 2014

Served on tap in a 10 oz chalice glass
Appearance – Served a lightly hazy golden orange color with a small white head. The head faded fast leaving a light lacing.
Smell – Aromas of a malty base mixed with cherry are the most prominent. With these are some lighter aromas of yeast and some banana.
Taste – The flavor begins of a sweeter cherry and lighter malt base. As it moves on the sweetness fades slightly but by no means does the cherry flavor becomes more dry. Toward the middle and the end of the taste notes of vanilla shinning through and create a palatable flavor on the tongue that lingers on.
Mouthfeel – The body of the beer was rather average with the carbonation level being slightly above. Both were quite fitting for the sweeter and fruitier flavors of the beer, making it more refreshing on the tongue.
Overall – While on the sweeter side this was a very tasty and refreshing beer. One that is good on a summer day and one well worth a try if you have never had it.

Clear peach soda colored, sustained white head. Faint cherry chapstick aroma. Light cherry juice flavor, grassy body. Strawberry finish. Direct with the sweetness, no noticeable contrast. gsmitty80 (2130) - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA - SEP 10, 2009
This was an interesting beer. Had it on tap and poured a nice pinkish color with a good head and lacing throughout. Aroma was overwhelming, preparing you for the sweet taste ahead. The cherry flavor was strong and overwhelming, but it was a nice beer to try. Will not be having another. closey22 (2105) - Mt. Laurel, New Jersey, USA - NOV 29, 2012
Tart sweet fruity aroma; looks like beer soda, or soda beer with all the bubbles; light on the palate; flava is sweet, like cherry soda; matter of fact I think it is cherry soda!
