Slightly hazy copper, dense white head, little dark red particulates, full body, medium carbonationcheap (5862) - Beaver Valley, Beaver County, Pennsylvania, USA - JUL 3, 2009
Aroma: a lot of bready yeast, notes of dark cherry and damp earth, a very subtle hint of leafy hops.
Taste: bright sour cherry, damp musty funky belgiany yeast, toasty and slightly caramel malt, just a trace of leafy hop bitterness.
Very nice fruit beer. Fruit is very present, but not sweet or overpowering, a team player. Hop level is perfect, as in hardly detectable but still balancing. Not as sweet or funky as a kriek, not as fruity or bland as a cherry wheat, it takes the best elements of each and finds a happy medium. A sessional wheat beer -rare.
UPDATED: JUL 10, 2009 Smells a little yeasty with perhaps a slight fruit olfactory. Pour is beautiful off yellow pinkish with lots of visible carbonation. A somewhat off white continuous head with a little pink in there. Pleasant slight tart ale flavors, Borders on a sour but does not quite get there. Fun and friendly from the start. Much better than most fruit beers. Glad I tried this stuff. Some slight bitter ale attitude on the finish. Darn, its all gone. BeerBillyCLE (12) - Newbury, Ohio, USA - NOV 27, 2014
Beautiful amber color with a nice sturdy, effervescent white head. Cherry flavor is tart and refreshing, not sweet. Reminds me more of a Fat Heads Bumble Berry and is far removed from the overly sweet and syrupy Sam Adams Cherry superspak (5603) - Michigan, USA - MAR 26, 2015
12 ounce bottle into pint glass, no bottle dating. Pours slightly hazy/cloudy golden orange color with a 1 finger dense off white head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of black cherry, lemon, pear, apple, cracker, bread, light honey, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance of of black cherry, pale malt, and fruity yeast notes; with solid strength. Taste of black cherry, lemon, pear, apple, cracker, bread, light honey, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness. Minimal earthy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of black cherry, lemon, pear, apple, cracker, bread, light honey, and herbal/yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice balance and robustness of black cherry, pale malt, and fruity yeast flavors; with zero cloying flavors after the finish. Very authentic on cherry flavor as well. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, fairly crisp, and lightly creamy/slick mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with zero warming present after the finish as expected of 5%. Overall this is a very good fruited cream ale. All around good robustness and balance of black cherry, pale malt, and fruity yeast flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A nicely enjoyable offering. shrubber85 (11408) - Greenville, Indiana, USA - FEB 18, 2013
Bottle. Lactic cherry malt aroma. Golden yellow with small head. Sweet-tart black cherry malt flavor. Nicely balanced. Tasty.

12 ounce bottle. Served in a pint glass, the beer pours a slightly hazy amber color with about an inch and a half off-white head. Head retention is good, and there’s a decent amount of lacing. The brew smells like black cherries and bready/grainy malt. I think the taste is just like the aroma, full of bready/grainy malt and sweet cherries. Mouthfeel/body is light/medium, it’s a bit slick and surprisingly creamy. It has good, soft carbonation which helps make this brew easy to drink. I think it’s a solid beer overall, I certainly wouldn’t turn one down! $1.79 a single. Beerman6686 (6607) - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 23, 2009
This poured a cloudy cherry red color with a big off white head. Aroma was some nice tart cherries but not overwhelming, and some creamy sweetness in there as well. Flavor was alot better than I would have expected. It was semi tart cherries with just the right amount of creamy sweetness to balance out the sourness. Pretty good stuff overall. Served on tap in a 10 oz chalice glass
Appearance – Served a lightly hazy golden orange color with a small white head. The head faded fast leaving a light lacing.
Smell – Aromas of a malty base mixed with cherry are the most prominent. With these are some lighter aromas of yeast and some banana.
Taste – The flavor begins of a sweeter cherry and lighter malt base. As it moves on the sweetness fades slightly but by no means does the cherry flavor becomes more dry. Toward the middle and the end of the taste notes of vanilla shinning through and create a palatable flavor on the tongue that lingers on.
Mouthfeel – The body of the beer was rather average with the carbonation level being slightly above. Both were quite fitting for the sweeter and fruitier flavors of the beer, making it more refreshing on the tongue.
Overall – While on the sweeter side this was a very tasty and refreshing beer. One that is good on a summer day and one well worth a try if you have never had it.

A light, tasty ale for a warm summer day! Strong, but not overpowering taste of cherry. Best served very cold.

Bottle thanks to MrBunn. Aroma is all black cherries with a slight grain presence..mostly a rye smell. Pours an orangey ruby color with a moderate head. Flavor is a strong black cherry, with the sweetness bordering on cloying. Still I find myself liking it for a fruit beer. Texture is a touch watery, like its missing some body. Wheaty aftertaste...a touch of tartness.
