3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Pours dark maroon to brown with a light beige head. Smell is nutty and malty. Taste is very malty with a nutty creamy flavor being prominent. Bit of a watery to normal mouthfeel with soft slightly lifeless carbonation. Creamy nutty flavor with just a faint twinge of hops in there, but still thin and malty, overall. Not bad but gets a tad thin and sweet as I finish it off.
Rating from July 2010....Its brown in color by the lantern....***Jen smells sweet creamed corn??***.....caramel aroma--sweet light malty scents in the nostrils....bubbly body with a medium malt flavor mixed with spices and a burnt caramel with a nutty touch Darkmagus82 (2302) - - AUG 5, 2014

Served on tap in a pint glass
Appearance – Served a brownish color brew with some ruby red highlights and a one finger white head. The head faded slowly to leave a lighter level of lacing.
Smell – The aroma was strongest of a roasted malt mixed with some caramel sweetness. While these were the strongest other lighter notes were present as well. Some smells of a light vanilla and notes of chocolate give it overall a nice smell.
Taste – The taste begins with a heavy roasted malt flavor mixed with notes of caramel and molasses sweetness. As the taste advances flavors of chocolate enter as well. The caramel at this point gives way to a more dark fruit sweetness in nature. These flavors take the taste to the end where a light oak and vanilla flavor greets the tongue, leaving a pleasing sweet roasted semi-sweet chocolate flavor to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the brew was on the medium in terms of creaminess side with a carbonation level that was moderate as well.
Overall – Quite nice and very easy to drink for a 7.8 % abv. It has wonderful roasted flavors. Give it a go if you have the chance. SSSteve (4006) - - OCT 24, 2013

Bottle. Loved this beer. Really is a hybrid of two of my favorite styles. Has that amber color and balanced aroma of a marzen beer and the malty very slightly sweet flavor of a doppelbock. nearbeer (5557) - Knoxville, Tennessee, USA - MAY 26, 2013
12 oz. Nearly opaque mahogany with a head that sizzles away immediately. Nose is molasses, raisin and cola. Taste is smooth and mild but has notes of raisin, dark cherry, molasses, dark toast, and coffee with a hint of char and smoke. Light-medium body is watery, with low-medium carbonation, and is fairly balanced and drinkable with no hint of the abv. It appears this might be a fall seasonal from the label and name. I wasn’t expecting much, but this one seems to have held up well and is the best of about half dozen Erie brews I’ve tried.

Erie Brewing is new to the Knoxville Market, and we seem to have gotten off on the wrong foot. Maybe it’s me, I’m fully willing to accept that. But this is another overly heavy sweet, overly heavy, cloying, boozy mess. Not my thing. Ontbeertaster (2362) - Ontario, CANADA - MAR 2, 2013

Dark reddish-brown with a brown head. Malty and hot on the nose with hints of carmel. Roasted toffee for the mouth with the texture on the roof of the mouth. Campy877 (189) - Michigan, USA - JAN 3, 2013
Bottle. Pours a very dark brown with a thin off-red head. Smells nutty, malty and roasted almonds. Taste doesn't disappoint. Sweet malt and roasted barley. Quite tasty.
